We continue to lose commits to MAC schools and you can pull the plug on Enos and his staff.  You can't win on the field when your first choice athletes are lining up on the opposite side of the ball.

RE: The Horseshoes Are Off

the u of m one is the one that amazes me, not because the kid choose to jump but that the hypocrites coaching there withdraw offers from their verbals that even choose to entertain a scholie some where else. so it is ok for you to pooch from other schools but no one is even allowed to freely look at another school when they made a verbal to you!
i sure hope we never we think about firing a coach because a few 18-19 year olds change their minds, there is enough pressure on these guys already that it must be very hard to operate with at least a modest amount of ethics. i do realize that is not really what A10 was suggesting.

i also believe it is extemely naive to think that what is discussed on boards like this will not affect some of these young kids thinking in terms of remaining committed to because they see so much potential for a coach to leave either by his choice or to be fired.  it is self-serving to think otherwise, will it make be the main part of a decision probably not but it definitely will have influence especially if there are coaches of questionable ethics using the said info.

RE: The Horseshoes Are Off

As frustrating as it is, nothing is official until they sign an NLI. If our staff has done their job then it won't really matter. If a kid changes his commitment then he obviously didn't have CMU as his #1 choice.

Also, I may be mistaken about UM, but just because someone takes a visit to another school doesn't mean they can't come to UM, I think they just tell the kid they will no longer hold his spot. If someone else commits and there's no more room than they are SOL.

I've read numerous times on the UM scout site, where fans say if a commit accepts an invite and visits another school, his offer is gone? I realize this is fans and not the UM Athletic department, but there must something to it, from past history.

As usual it depends on the kid. David Dawson wanted to visit and I am not sure if he had his scholarship pulled or decomitted. Several weeks later he recomitted.

This is the reason I thought the offer was not gone for good, but if your spot filled up than your out of luck.

I don't really have an issue either way. They seem to take the stance of UM should be the only place you want to be. If you want to look elsewhere then you don't put them as your #1. I'm sure they miss out on a few recruits with this policy, but it seems to work for them.

I think it also makes a kids verbal commitment mean more. They're pledging themselves to UM and UM ensures that have a scholarship.

my problem is the hypocrisy of it, they do not even want a kid to look at somewhere else after they verballed yet they have no problem seeking out verbals from other schools...if they have verbals lets say from WMU who decide w/o being actually being recruited by them after they committed to the broncos than to me that would be a pony of a different colour.

It works for me.  If you don't want to have the offer pulled, then don't commit until you are sure.  If that means waiting awhile, so be it.

The real problem for CMU is losing their commitments in their weakest area. Speedster WR Da'Mario Jones is a 4.4,Lightning WR Joe Marrow runs a 10.4 100 meter, and Desmond King is a 4.4 burner, and true cover corner. These would be the three fastest Chips on a team lacking team speed.

The real problem is that a commitment doesnt mean anything anymore.  Michigan's policy is how it should be.  If you want to look around, then don't commit.  As you look around, they will look around.

And it isn't unique to Michigan.  Alot of schools have the same policy.  Brian Kelly has the same policy.

From what I read the kid is as committed to CMU as Manti Teo is to his last girlfiend..........very committed.

The only thing that might change his mind is that Coach Doogie is a very excitable guy, and Enos is as exciting as watching paint dry.

You're probably right, WMUfan, but even so Enos has recruited very well if he's done anything at CMU. Every class has gotten better and better. You best tell your young gun he's gonna have to take it up a notch now that he's at the big boy table.

Take it up a notch?  You lose the bulk of your defense, the heart of your Oline, and your starting QB.  And that's the same team we've whipped pretty easily the last couple of years with our 2nd string QB and our two best receivers sitting out.

The big boy table. Amusing.

Guess WMU will be winning a MAC championship then this year, and winning a bowl game this year then right?

Amusing indeed...

Don't know.  But I do know what we've lost talent wise, and what you've lost talent wise.  How things have fared lately, and where the game is being played.  I like our chances to go 3 in a row against you.  I don't see us finishing ahead of UT or NIU, but I think we come in ahead of BSU.  As for a bowl win, got to get to one first, and hope we draw some middle of the pack Sun Belt team.
