Future schedules.
Just saw that CMU will be at ohio st , at iowa , and at oklahoma st in 2016. Hopefully Rush will be an accomplished 5th yr starter by then , because Heeke has really served up a challenge for the team that year.

That can't be possible. What head coach in his right mind would sign off on that? Must be about $2 million in payouts with those three.

Kirk Ferentz will still be on the hot seat at Iowa in 2016.

Re: Future schedules.
now if an endzone building and some suites with a revamped deck perhaps some LED lights along the inside of the stadium were to come with these pay check games I would say lets do it. However, i am not holding my breath and concur this schedule is absolutely disgusting. It would be difficult for a top program to play let alone a middle of the pack MAC team. Makes no sense

Re: Future schedules.
Personally, I love it. Get a FBS game at home and some big money games to get the Chippewas name out to different regions.

What region is Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Iowa located in? Don't we already play in the midwest? More likely, what will happen is we will get national press for losing by 50+ points at OSU (pick one). Then there is the associated physical beating our team will take in the ol and dl. As much as Enos is trying to physically upgrade our two lines, we are no where near ready to take on that size and depth three times before the MAC season gets heated. Sure, it's four season away. Yes we can continue to get bigger. Still, anyone here think we have the size, depth, athleticism of OSU (pick one)? We couldn't even match up with 6-6 MSU this season. Boise State still doesn't play this type of schedule. Take the $2-3 million, pay for permanent stadium upgrades, increased assistant coaches salaries, and more FBS home games. The gamble is HUGE.

Re: Future schedules.
Huge gamble? Sure. But, I gotta say I like the future schedule too. Some (myself included) have been complaining about playing too many FCS teams, etc year after year after year... Time to move up and start playing more of the big boys in FBS? We can't have it both ways. In 4 years, it will be put up or shut up time. We aren't gonna get any national exposure for our program playing the Sam Houston States of the world...

Playing the devil's advocate here, but NIU probably got more national exposure than any football team in the history of the MAC this year. They were something like 121st in strength of schedule. Late in the year there were 3 FCS teams that had played a tougher schedule. Playing big-time schools is nice for the paycheck, but I don't know that losing 70-14 does anything but make your program look bad. It's a huge difference playing Ohio State, Oklahoma State or Clemson instead of playing Northwestern, Michigan State or Indiana.

RE: Future schedules.
So what will bring in recruits....Sam Houston and its publicity or knocking heads with the "big boys" that failed to recruit some of these guys? I'm sure pounding on Gholston of msu sure didnt hurt Eric Fisher's draft status. Its a win win..we get Oklahoma State and a couple other games at home AND we get some much needed cash to upgrade facilities and keep the better coaches. If you are afraid of crashing DON"T GET IN THE CAR!!! GO TO EMU BY BIKE!!

RE: Future schedules.
EMU?!!! Good grief.
Don't forget you still need to win at least 6 games to become bowl eligible. In most years, MAC teams need to win at least 7 games. Take the Iowa win, figure OhioState tougher than MSU was in Mt. Pleasant, and OK State certainly tougher at home than fcs in Mt. Pleasant. Thus, looking at this season it's a good thing we played fcs state instead of at Oklahoma State or there would have been no LCPB game or a win over WKU.

RE: Future schedules.
The game at oklahoma st won't bring much , if any, cash . I suspect that Heeke cut the same deal with them that he did with msu this season. CMU keeps all the cash from the game at CMU and agrees to take a much smaller payment , if any , for the return trip. Until CMU fans start showing up in big numbers for its home games and start making more contributions to the athletic fund CMU will continue to have to schedule pay days at bcs schools. The money has to come from somewhere.

RE: Future schedules.
The recent championship era the diehards showed up we were battling for top attendance in the MAC, however, we did not have much of an OOC home slate. I think the atmosphere for MSU was top to none and bringing in NCSTATE OK ST will help attendance values. We also must start winning at home. Winning cures all and if we start consistently winning, playing more interesting opponents at home, combined with continued success of the MAC we will see attendance rise.

RE: Future schedules.
To become competitive at the level the 2016 season will require, we will have to improve greatly every year. Now, having just lost our DL coach, a top recruiter who was all over Detroit area schools, to the WMU Broncos does not bode well. We can't get better when we lose one of our top assistants to another MAC program, especially the broncos.
Enos is going to have to find someone that can really bring it to avoid losing ground from this personnel loss.

a10, I will bet ENOS is much more "concerned" about filling the d-line position than any of us!

RE: Future schedules.
If we can't win 6 or 7 games in the MAC, it shouldn't matter who we play out of conference. But I would take these big names or FBS teams over a IAA team.
I have always thought playing tougher teams makes you stronger. Yeah you could always take the easy way, but as a fan I would much rather see CMU play national teams with names people recongnize. Yeah, I know injuries may occur, but who's to say that won't happen with another NDSU game?
