2013 Non-Conference Schedule

2013 Non-Conference Schedule

One Word: BRUTAL

Opening the season at Michigan, our only home game in non-conference is against New Hampshire (SNORE) and then we travel to North Carolina State and UNLV. Lots of traveling, tough teams and a whole slew of new starters on the offense.

I do have to say the way the team finished the season, I think Enos is going to have the team ready to come fight. We probably aren't going to beat Michigan, but its a good test for the rest of the season, especially going forward with those other 2 road games. Going to be a very fun, interesting 2013.

How is it BRUTAL?

Tough teams?

NC State was 7-6 last year and they will have a new coach and had a senior QB
UNLV was 2-11, do I need to comment about New Hampshire?

Don't sleep on New Hampshire.  I'm very serious.

I agree about New Hampshire.  They have been a one of the better teams in FCS for each of the last nine years, - they have been in the FCS playoffs every year since 2004.  They have been a consistant winner at their level.  I don't think we can take anyone lightly, especially a winning FCS team.  We have already shown we can lose to teams that play FCS football.  We have also shown we can get blown away by an FCS team.
I have always said if we are going to play teams from FCS then let's play the best.  Now I would like to see us schedule Appalachian State.

They gave us a heck of a game back in 2003, which we won 40-33. Oregon's HC Chip Kelly was their offensive coordinator then.

As I recall, Kelly was their head coach and then went to Oregon as their O-coordinator.  I also recall the anger directed at DeBord because New Hampshire hung with us.

He was the NH OC, then went to Oregon as their OC:

Hard to believe, but he's only been a head coach for four years and all of them at Oregon.

Playing a good or bad FCS school doesn't help the program. They are scheduled to get a cheap automatic win. So, I would rather play another lower teir BCS team where a win would say something, than to play a good FCS school where a lose can ruin a season or tarnish the fans view of a coach.

Also, someone wrote that NC State was 7-6 and that wasn't as brutal, remember, we only beat one team with a winning record this season, and they were from the Sunbelt, I think a 7-6 from the ACC has more weight.

Re: 2013 Non-Conference Schedule

I am not sure if this is "brutal" but the traveling sucks. Regardless, we should finish this non conference portion 2-2. UNLV is probably worse than New Hampshire to be honest. They've won a grand total of 6 games in the last 3 years. And New Hampshire is a pretty good FCS team but we should be able to win. The only FCS teams I wouldn't guarantee a win against, would be the top teams like NDSU, Sam Houston, EWU, etc.

Michigan is going to be a loss, not much to say there. Hopefully we can put up 14 or so points. NC State is a strange game because even with our terrible 3-9 teams, we've shown we can hang with some good teams for a half, then fizzle out. I am not expecting a win here. But, I am expecting us to show at least something.

If we finish 2-2, that gives us a pretty good shot at a bowl game seeing as we will play EMU, and most likely UMass and Buffalo, since we haven't played them since 2009 I believe.

Tough to speculate on what our record will be considering we aren't even sure who will be playing QB.

I think our record may be a bit more dependant on WHO we're playing than who's playing for us.

The 'great recruiter' has 3 QB's on the roster that he's brought in...according to many..you should have no worries.

Ohio, NIU, Toledo, BG..be worried!!
