Suspensions

Per Kristopher Lodes with CM Life:

Three suspended for Little Caesars Pizza Bowl
Posted by Kristopher Lodes
Sophomore wide receivers Titus Davis, Courtney Williams and Defarrel Davis have been suspended by Central Michigan University for a violation of team policy.

It was announced late Sunday night that the trio would not be playing in Wednesday’s bowl game in Detroit against Western Kentucky.

“Our student-athletes operate in accordance with an established code of conduct,” athletic director Dave Heeke said in a statement. “They are held accountable for upholding those standards.”

Titus Davis and Williams are No. 2 and No. 3 on the Chippewas receptions list with Davis earning 860 yards on 43 catches and eight touchdowns while Williams has brought in 24 receptions for 260 yards and two touchdowns.

Defarrel Davis has not yet seen time this season.

CMU will be playing in its fifth bowl game in seven seasons at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against the Hilltoppers who will be playing in their first ever bowl game.

“We are looking forward to a great bowl experience for our program and fans and a great game against Western Kentucky,” Heeke said.

Re: Suspensions

Apparently these three can't read.  I posted a string about bowl game suspensions just last week.  Not sure who will fill in for these three, but we will see how deep we really are.  Opportunity for others to enjoy more field time at the bowl game.

RE: Suspensions

I'd expect Cody to shine in his last game, Flory to step in for Davis, and Kroll/Butler/McConnell to see plenty of reps too.

Re: Suspensions

At the end of the article:   Sunday morning, Titus Davis tweeted, “Bye bye central, maybe forever.”

Hope not, but no player is bigger than the team.  Next man in.

Young guy made a mistake, its all part of the growing process.  Time for some of the other guys to step up.  By the way his tweets have chilled out, sounds like he is comitted to learning from this.

Re: Suspensions

Amazing....

What could POSSIBLY be so important that you chance missing out on a bowl game and a national tv audience with it being the only college football game on????

So when they are sitting around with their Grandkids one day, and they ask them what they did in their college football playing days and the bowl games they participated in, these three can say proudly: "nothing. I was suspended for violation of team rules."

Really?????!

Well, hope it was worth it.... (sic).

Re: Suspensions

I'm reminded of the expression..."Youth is wasted on the young."  Young guys get caught up in a moment and sometimes forget the big picture.  The risk is far greater than the reward, but they don't see that.  Hopefully, all these young men learn from this.  Even when you eff up and learn from it, sometimes it comes at an expensive cost.  Lucky for these guys, TD at least, when you are a good athlete you many times get another chance.  I hope they all get another chance.  Good luck to them.  I hope they all remain Chips.

Agree Chippsfan, hopefully there actions were not of a serious nature (enough to get suspended obviously) and they will learn from their mistakes and become better people for it. It just stinks that they hurt the team and mars their memories of what could have been. On the other side of this, a couple of other kids will get a chance they might not have had to step up and make their own memories.

RE: Suspensions

It doesn't say why they were suspended. I wonder if it was grades. Titus had been tweeting that he was gone and he would have known if he were in trouble in the classroom. Either way it is sad for any player to be suspended and miss a bowl game. Hopefully it will be a life learning experience.

RE: Suspensions

It does seem there are always a few academic casualities this time of year....but it would be weird that 3 guys playing the same position would fall into that situation. But hopefully if it is not something to serious they can all learn from it and move forward.

Re: Suspensions

I would guess and its just a wild guess it was something relatively minor like missing curfew or something.  Life lessons for all rules is rules no matter who you are.

Agreed. If it were grades wouldn't the university have said they were academically ineligible?

RE: Suspensions

I doubt it was grades, more like missing curfew or something like that.

nothing to do with grades, was a foolish mistake by college kids, as long as they learn a life lesson from it move on and prepar for next season.

Re: Suspensions

Enos' is separating himself from Dantonio.  The MSU coach would not suspend anyone from a bowl game.  He'd suspend them from spring practice, the spring game.

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. We've got a roster full of guys that will be more than happy to take your position.
