ncaa is a joke
a 5 loss wisconsin team is playing in the rose bowl.
A team with a losing record is going bowling.
A team with 1 loss NIU most likely is not going to a BCS bowl

Northern Illinois is not deserving of a BCS Bowl game. Who did.they beat? Kansas who was one of the worst teams in Division 1? They lost to a bad Iowa team. They beat Kent State in the Championship game who lost to a terrible Kentucky team by 33. NIU is a good mid-level team but not a team that should be playing in any major bowl. You are who you are.

Agreed on the last two parts. Wisconsin going to the Rose Bowl is just icing on the cake for how bad of a season the Big Ten had this year. But to Wisconsin's credit, they took advantage of a situation and made the most of it. Not their fault that Ohio State and Penn State broke a lot of rules and happened to be in the same division.
NIU still has an outside chance...depends on where the human voters put them and how far Nebraska falls. But the fact that Louisville could get a BCS bowl over NIU, or even Boise State for that matter, is garbage. Just a terrible, unfair system.

you are who you are.  wisconsin lost 5 times this year. They are NOT deserving of a multimillion dollar payout from the rose bowl. The Big East could not get past the upper tier of the MAC they are not deserving of BCS bowl money. MAC tv money from espn is 100k per school that is all. It is a ridiculous unfair system and if NIU squeeks in it is about damn time. Spare me all the reasons NIU is not deserving of a BCS. We are all D-1FBS yet the system is completely biased and unfair.

To add to this. Every year there are teams not deserving. Last year UofM played Va Tech in a BCS game. Va Tech squeaked in after beating nobody and getting destroyed by Clemson. UofM did not beat any of the big teams in the Big Ten. The system is a joke built to place money in the "Bigger" conferences pockets. The Big East has no place in the BCS this year. If they really wanted to have that proof make the BCS game Big East winner-NIU and prove who should be there.

New AP/coaches polls are out and NIU is ranked 16th. Boise State is 15th. We'll see where the computers put them.
Kent State fell to #25.
Louisville is ranked at #20 if my short-term memory is correct.

TV and $'s are a given. That aside, these MAC teams did not do enough to be in a BCS game. The D1 teams they played played outside the MAC were 7-28. There are years the MAC may have really special teams but this is not one of them. I watched the Kentucky and Kent State game. Kentucky, who won 2 games (the other against Stamford) beat them by 33. Just being 11-1 is not enough. The Big East is terrible which is why it will be most likely be gone soon. The Big 10 is having another bad year but it is made up of major state universities that have big followings. Like it or not, the Big 10 is and will always be a major football conference. I think the bigger question is what role will MAC schools play once the Super Conferences are in place? Times are changing and schools like Central have very little to say about these changes.

I can't argue with you but the NCAA has some pretty dumb rules like huge pay days for automatic qualifying conferences. Schlabach at ESPN is projecting NIU vs. Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Given the way the polls have moved, it'll be up to the computers; however, I'm liking the Huskies chances to crash the party. Of the potential teams to play, FSU wouldn't be a terrible match up for them either.

Nice sports math man, that always works. CMU>Iowa>MSU>Wisconsin. CMU is the Big Ten Champion. They are 12-1 right now and beat the #17 team. You can nit pick all you like to make a team look bad. They also beat Toledo when I believe they were ranked. |

Kent State also beat Rutgers, WMU beat UConn, Toledo beat Cincy. All Big East Loses to MAC schools. The MAC is better than the Big East this year and our Champion does deserve the bid to the BCS more. Does Oklahoma deserve the spot more, of course they do, but if you think for one second any MAC school is not going to defend there opportunity to make more money for there school your crazy.

NIU played a soft schedule to a 12-1 record. They are not a team that should be in a BCS game. If anyone got a raw deal it is Georgia. They are 11-2 in the SEC and lose in the last minute to Alabama and you don't get a BCS bowl. There is no way, that other than NCAA/BCS rules, NUI should be in a BCS game before the Bulldogs. You bring up Toledo. Outside of the MAC, they had a nice win against a good Cincinnati team. They lost to Arizona and beat Wyoming who won 4 games and Coastal Carolina. NIU beating the Rockets at home by 7 is not exactly a quality national win. I can not see anyway that the Huskies are a BCS team this year. As for cashing the check...you bet.

Boise State played a soft schedule and lost twice already. Don't even get me started on the Big East. Louisville lost to a garbage UConn team that lost to WMU. How about Florida State? They beat 1 ranked team in Clemson and lost to NC State. Like I said you can nit pick almost every team.

Looks like NIU to the Orange Bowl. I stand corrected. Very interesting how this year played out. It will be interesting to see a MAC team playing in a BSC game. Would have been much more fun if it was a year the Chips had been good. Oh well.
