O'Bannon lawyer said it first, then Emmert followed right along...sheesh.

I'm surprised both schools haven't filed defamation suits. However, even if you win, you still have to prove actual damages in order to collect anything...

The last time we attempted to bring legal action against the NCAA we were handed the Death Penalty.

It doesn't help that Emmert was the former chancellor at LSU or that the Sun Belt refuses to use our requested athletic brand. All of that adds to the confusion.

Your cousins would get a little upset if the Sun Belt started referring to you as the "University of Louisiana."

We have to be neutral so as to not discriminate against Louisianan's.  For the record...more and more SBC teams have made that change without the conference's approval.  At last check, ASU is one of the few holdouts. You'll always be ULL to us unfortunately.  It just sounds weird any other way.

What is best for A-State is my interest.

It is better for A-State to be in a conference with the University of Louisiana and ULM instead of two @ schools.

So I try to call them Louisiana until they switch conferences or on days they act like a ULL.

Why should we care if ULM fans are offended? Why should we care about Louisiana law or being fair to any Louisianans?

If ULM were trying to brand Louisiana, I'd be much more inclined to be very neutral, but ULM seems more inclined to make sure the Cajuns don't brand as Louisiana as to actually battle for it.

I tried the neutral thing before and it destroyed to old Beltboard so screw it, I'll do whatever I please. tongue

Its an never ending saga and if Dr. Savoie and Dr. Bruno would get together and agree upon sports branding this conference would be better off. I understand why Dr. Bruno caved to his supporters after being named president at ULM, but I don't understand why he and  Dr. Savoie can't come to an agreement after they entertain each other in suites yearly and work together in the UL System. Dr. Savoie even supported Bruno's appointment and campaigned for him to get the position at ULM. Both turned in UL to Benson as preferred monikers, knowing full well that would never fly legally in Louisiana. Neither will ever be the university of Louisiana, so why not move on and work with ULM and Louisiana as preferred brands? I wish I had the answer, but a lot of political capital has been wasted over this battle over the years.

Savoie almost faced a riot because he was so desperate to not be ULL that he became UL-L, which looked worse.

Would you be preaching the same message if ULM had decided they wanted to be called UL?  Afterall, they have just as much claim to the title as you right?

Did you not read what I posted? They could have declared what they wanted, Louisiana Tech or any other member would have filed suite against them as well. And for the record, they claimed "Louisiana" first and decided to go in an entirely different direction with ULM. That was their decision, no one  forced that branding decision upon the previous president at ULM.

Savoie almost faced a riot because he was so desperate to not be ULL that he became UL-L, which looked worse.

Dr. Savoie ran around stating that he was full force behind the "Louisiana" branding, then he got into a pissing match with Bruno, turning in the UL reference  to the Sun Belt office knowing full well that wasn't going to stand. That was a stupid decision on his part and he deserved the uprising running away from the brand his supported initially.

They never should've changed from USL.

I used to be pretty ambivalent towards their name, brand, moniker, or whatever they're calling it today. It's gotten to the point, however, that their arrogance has just pushed me to the ULM side on this issue.

Yeah the whole thing I think has disproven the old saying that a half a loaf is better than none.

NEVER let "just good enough" be acceptable for A-State again!
