Boise State fan here.

Boise State fan here.

Hi guys. I'm not a troll. We Broncos will be watching your progress this year with real interest. Brian Harsin, Chris Petersen's ex offensive coordinator, is putting together a super staff. So far, including Harsin, there are eight ex Boise State Broncos hired, all great people.

Maybe some day in the future there coud be a ASU v BSU game?

Thanks for the kind words. We are very excited to be following the model you guys set in place. You probably won't get many responses to your post since most post in the premium forum or over at arkst.com/board.

Thanks for the comments, I can't wait to see what Coach Harsin does here.  I would love to see a long term rotation with BSU maybe starting in '15.

RE: Boise State fan here.

We appreciate the Boise State fans.  Arkansas State has always been a program that has had little issues that have held us back - mostly of our own doings.  Over the last few years we have made excellent choices with the people that have been hired in the administration.  Lots of that can be attributed to the Red Wolves number one fan - Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe.  Now that Ark St has put the right people in place in the administration, the University can finally move toward what the fanbase has hoped forever - to grow to a program that can be a Mid Major power.  In the past ASU fans have pointed toward Southern Miss as a program to immolate.  However in the past two seasons the RedWolfNation has seen Ark St put back to back 10 win seasons together, and Malzahn used the term Boise of the South.  I think with many of us that opened eyes that Ark St and the administration see that we can be even more that just a power in the Mid Majors, but has the chance to try to immolate the absolute model for being the biggest and the baddest Mid Major - Boise State.  My dad used to coach our youth teams as we were growing up.  He used to always use the following phrase when people would ask how good were we - "We aren't the best, but the best don't want to mess with us".  Arkansas State fans are realistic in who we are, but I think our fans can't wait for the day that my dad's saying would be a perfect fit for us.  PS  My dad's teams won 9 consecutive league titles.

Another Boise State guy. Here's a few interesting tid bits about your new Head Coach. His Dad Dale is a local legend up here in Boise. He owns and Races a AA/Funny Car. Bryan is licensed to drive and is in fact a very proficient Driver of that car. So you can say you have the fastest head Coach in all of College football. Like others have said the staff he is putting together is young and energetic, they know how to get the job done. I think we will all be pulling for you guys and hoping you have a lot of success. Good luck this season.

RE: Boise State fan here.

I wonder if the visiting Boise fans can tell us how the Broncos have recruited over the years with Petersen and Harsin.  Have fans been able to follow recruiting very well.  Some coaches are not big fans of sites such as Scout and the other recruiting websites.  I was wondering if Boise fans were able to keep up pretty well with the Broncos recruiting.  Also I expect that there was a period of time where many Boise recruits my have had only one D1 offer - Boise.  I am sure now that the Broncos recruit with the best of them.  But did the Boise State program grow with a lot of lightly recruited talent?  The past two coaches at Arkansas State have been obsessed with recruiting - See Freeze's class at Ole Miss and Malzhan's at Auburn.  Those guys seem to love the game of recruiting almost as much as they do the on the field game.  I know that all coaches understand that recruiting is the "life blood" but some believe that they can find diamonds and develop them.  I guess I expect Harsin to be similar to whatever Petersen's philosophy is.  Wondering if you guys can fill us in on some of this.

Thanks!

RE: Boise State fan here.

If he follows in Coach Pete's Footsteps and I am sure he will, you can throw the star system out  the window. Look for  Coach to go after the best player he can find that he feels he can work with. What the recruiting services say won't matter a bit to him. He will look for unselfish players that will be sold out to the team. They may be a tad undersized and may have a big chip on there shoulder for being passed over by the SEC and Big 12 schools around you. He will look for players that will give 100 % all the time. If they do fit the prototype size that is just a bonus to these guys. He will look for speed. I wish you guys all the best. I know his Dad Dale pretty well and we have been friends since 1976. The recruiting services will probably keep you up to date because Coach will be reluctant to advertise who they are after. of Course this is JMHO

I feel like you hit the nail on the head from what we saw with our first class under Harsin. Thanks for the insight.

Thanks Boise State fan. We'd love to come up and play y'all on that blue field. You have shown us the model as far as how to become recognized in the big boy field of college football. Our last coach even repeatedly proclaimed he wanted us to become the Boise State of the South.
