Rakeem Dickerson Transferring

Would have been a senior this year.  Very interesting.

The dreaded sig of doom has chosen future hall of famer Jason Heyward as its target.

May the baseball gods have mercy on your soul!

Maybe he felt like to many sharing minutes at his position.

If he was going to be 3rd string or lower even it's expected.. Sucks for depth but still have a strong group.
Howl hard or go home, stAte, Fast Break on Grass, FAST VIOLENT fun?

I can't say I'm surprised nor do I blame him.

Re: Rakeem Dickerson Transferring

I hate it, but also understand.  It seemed like the team always ran more smoothly when he was in the game, but he didn't get consistent good minutes.  For whatever reason, it seems like the staff wants a point guard with a scorer's mentality rather than a traditional facilitator type point guard.  Rakeem has been an excellent representative of our university and will do well where he lands.

Re: Rakeem Dickerson Transferring

We've had seniors transfer in for their final year and we have some transferring out. It is almost always about playing time and it is the new way of the NCAA. If the powers that be get their way, it is going to get worse. The article mentions that Dickerson's dad thinks he needs 35 minutes a game so he can play in the NBA or developmental league.

Brady was pretty straight forward in that he didn't think Dickerson would be a professional player. He said he was really surprised by what happened. I like that he isn't afraid to speak his mind.

Well, he's right on that one. If Dickerson plays anywhere, it'll be Europe, and I doubt he sticks there. Think of all the players that we have had that were much better ball players than Rakeem Dickerson. Now, think of how many played pro ball. Not many.

I think he told the truth,.

Dickerson was nothing more than a role player and he would have been the same this season as well. He couldn't shoot. Other teams didn't have to guard him. He did play decent defense. I hate that he's leaving and feel he would have contributed this season, but we're not losing much.

I wondered if the honesty wasn't to rebut any attempts to get a waiver to play at UALR or UCA because of a sick grandma?

So do I.  I think he just said why he thought was true.  When Reed left Bady was pissed.  It seemed with this he was more puzzled than anything.  Brady takes a lot of grief on this board but this time I can't see that it is deserved.

Eh, If he's our best PG than its a really bad sign for next season.  He can play D, but his offense is very below average.

Anyone who's spent more that a couple of seconds talking to Brady knows he is high on PJ Hardwick. Barring some kind of injury or something unforeseen, he will be the starting PG.

Brady was simply saying what he felt.  Nothing bad.  He sad he wasn't mad but just puzzled but he also said he thought Rakeem was making a bad mistake.  His dad thought he needed to get 35 minutes a game.  Brady said no matter how much I like him, he's not getting 35 minutes a game.

35 minutes per game biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin was he freakin serious.

A grand total of 97 players in ALL of D1 basketball average 35 minutes/game last year.
