Baseball Is Rigged, Selig Must Go
What's the point of watching a baseball season if the outcome is practically pre-determined?? There are some teams that have absolutely no shot of making the post-season anymore, and teams such as the Yankees are all but assured a post-season spot virtually every single season. Even the umpiring is rigged to favor the Yankees, as this post-season has shown. The Curt Flood reserve clause and free agency in general has ruined the game. I'm contemplating whether or not I should even follow baseball anymore.

Re: Baseball Is Rigged, Selig Must Go
Last night illustrates what I'm talking about. What good is baseball when we all know going into any given season that only a certain small number of teams have a shot at the post season?? The way things are now, teams like the Pirates and the Royals will never win anything again. At the same time, it's gotten to the point where all the big time free agents will only sign with the Yankees, Red Sox or Mets. Bottom line: Get rid of free agency and impose an NFL style salary cap.

The ESPN talking heads are clueless. Carl Ravich just said: "You have to hand it to the Yankees, because they know how to retain their talent". Yeah, like they ever lose any star players due to free agency like most other teams.

Re: Baseball Is Rigged, Selig Must Go
MLB will keep getting passed up by the other sports if it doesn't realize that the lack of a cap is hurting it. A luxury tax would be a decent step in the right direction. I am suprised anyone even supports teams like the Royals, and Pirates as it is obvious they will never truly compete. Seriously, was there any doubt that the Yankees would win it all this year after signing three of the biggest free agents available. I like it when they say the Yanks GM made all the right moves. Ya...not that hard when you got dibs on any player in the market.
Don't argue with idiots, or you might be mistaken as the idiot.

Jamey Newberg summed it up perfectly: "I'll have nothing to say, however, about the Yankees' World Series win and the national media's sympathy card to the team and its fans for having to fight through nine grueling years to reclaim what apparently belonged to them. I had no idea how punishing that must have been. I now realize what a crummy, insensitive baseball fan I've been. Thank you, national media."

29 owners agreed to this system. The only one to decline...the owner of the New York Yankees. If the owners wanted it to be this way, then they shouldn't be complaining.
...just to play Devil's Advocate.

...just to play Devil's Advocate. This is why my interest in baseball is waning. My interest in baseball began to erode during the 1994/1995 strike, and my interest never really recovered from that. Then there was the steroid scandal, and now the deck stacked in favor of the Yankees.
Should I even continue to be a baseball fan??
