Keeper League Offseason Thread
Starting the thread for the Birdhouse Keeper League offseason trades or any other news that's relevant.
Anyway, I am REALLY interested in trading for a decent 3B and/or C. My strength is outfield. I have 4 keeper-worthy OFers that all get a bunch of hits and steal a bunch of bases, if that's a weakness of yours. I also don't plan on keeping Orlando Hudson. If you'd like him, he can be yours for a very cheap price.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
I can only keep 1 firstbasement, so if you are interested in either Joey Votto or Adrian Gonzalez, please let me know.
I also have a bit of a SP surplus. We only keep 3, so I'm sure everyone has a top 3 they are willing to roll with. But let me know if you view any of the following as an upgrade of your current keepers: Adam Wainwright, Josh Johnson, Wandy Rodriguez, Matt Garza, Ubaldo Jiminez, or even Eric Bedard.
I'm primarily looking for a catcher and a center fielder.

you can only keep 2 SP's... you have 1 extra RP spot for a non closer which you conceivably use on a SP who is eligible at RP...

I'd love to get my hands on Weiters if possible.
I don't know what your plans are for Upton, but I still like his upside moving forward.

RE: Keeper League Offseason Thread
I just posted this question on Yahoo as well, but how do I check my players eligibility for 2010?
For instance, how can I check to see if Skip Schumaker will only be a 2B or if we will have some outfield eligibility left?
If I understand Yahoo's rules correctly, a player needs 5 Games Started (GS) or 10 Games played (GP) at a position in 2009 for him to enter 2010 with that eligibility. They will then start the same count over at the start of 2010. By that standard, based on Schumaker's page on baseball-reference.com he would be eligible for 2B (133 GP, 124 GS), LF (39 GP, 1 GS), and RF (11 GP, 0 GS) in 2010 but will not enter the year with CF (6 GP, 3 GS) eligibility.
Is there any easier way than checking baseball-reference.com for each guy I have or am interested in?

RE: Keeper League Offseason Thread
I would assume baseball-reference.com is correct and that should be the same for Yahoo (assuming you have the Yahoo rules correct). But are you seriously considering keeping Skip at CF over McCutcheon? You have a hole at 2B so if you want to keep Skip, that'd be the place to do so.
Btw, if you'd rather have Orlando Hudson as your 2B keeper, I'd want to take one of those 3B off your hands. Let me know if you are interested and we can work something out.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
bovthomas,
I would be interested in Votto or Gonzalez.
I noticed that you only had one 20+ save closer on your team, so would a closer interest you? I would be willing to deal Kerry Wood to upgrade at first base. I would like to upgrade at 1B, just let me know if there's a deal you would be interested in making based on my roster. I just thought saves seemed like something you might be interested in.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
im here... and lookign to do soem trades...i liek my team makeup at the moment..but i am always listening for upgrades or changes
as for the position elgibility
as i have said before...whatever the player is eligible at THIS year that is going on now is what the player will be eligible for... dont worry about what they will be eligibe for next year... if they are eligible for it now..then it counts...
for example..i have Michael Young...he will still be eligible at SS for our keepers this year even though he did not play SS this year...this woudl be the last year i coudl do that for him unless he becomes eligible there next year...
ambill...i sent you a message about a trade via email..
here are my guys on the block if anyone is interested...the other guys might be had but it will take much mroe to pry them from me...
i liek BIG deals and we haev plenty of time to work it out before the season starts
on the block (guys people may be interested in)
Ryan Franklin Tim Hudson Garret Jones Mark Ellis Ben zobrist (though he is a keeper for me right now) Brandon Inge (still C eligible for next year) Everth Cabrera Nolan Reimold Eugenio Velez Kevin Jespen
other gusy that coudl be had for the right price...Berkman, Upton, Young, Morales, Strasburg, Johan Santana

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
I have an outfield surplus and a few surplus arms. I have Manny, Carlos Gonzalez, Markakis, Bruce, Gutierrez, and Milledge. I would consider trading any of them. I also have some spare pitchers: Danks, Lester, Lilly, Oswalt, Buchholz, and Masterson are my starters M. Gonzalez, Francisco, C. Perez, Feliz, Ziegler, and Guzman are my relievers. Again, I would consider trading any of them. Nick Johnson might have some value to some people. My primary need, at this point, is third base. My only "off the market" is probably Utley.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
I noticed that the Yahoo! site is in some sort of offseason mode. Does Yahoo! understand that we are a keeper league or will the commish have to add our kept players onto our rosters manually before the draft or something? Just curious because this is my first time in a keeper league.
Here's my roster based on guys I'm planning to keep (unless I'm wowed by an offer):
C ??? 1B ??? 2B Alberto Callaspo 3B Aramis Ramirez SS Hanley Ramirez LF Adam Lind CF Andrew McCutchen RF Jacoby Ellsbury
SP Zack Greinke SP ??? CL Heath Bell CL Carlos Marmol RP Dan Wheeler
Excess Talent: CL Kerry Wood RP Kiko Calero SP Nick Blackburn SP Mark Buehrle SP Wade Davis SP Gio Gonzalez SP Cole Hamels SP Edwin Jackson SP Gil Meche SP/RP Aaron Poreda 3B Troy Glaus SS/3B Jed Lowrie 1B/2B Jose Lopez LF/CF Scott Podsednik 2B/LF/RF/CF Skip Schumaker C Kurt Suzuki
My biggest needs are 1B and C. I wouldn't mind upgrading at SP if there's a player to be had that's better than my options in my excess talent pool. I like the excess talent that is bold and italicized, but don't have room for them in my current plan. The other guys in the list are likely available at a discount.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
Yahoo's pay service allows the commish to enter keepers before the draft, but I don't believe the free service offers that feature. If we use the free service, we can all agree not to draft each other's keepers and we can add our players from the FA pool after the draft has concluded. I'd think we'd all be sufficiently cautious if the penalty for mistakenly drafting another team's keeper is to forfeit that pick in the draft.
I might have the 1B for you if you're interested in Adrian Gonzalez or Joey Votto.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
i am about to get this thing going again.
i think i can enter the keepers at the beginning before the draft regardless of the pay, but if i have to i can manually add them all to each roster.
SO,
please everyone list their keepers here for now. I will try to send out an email from the list of last years people.
i may have to start a new league since for some reason i dont have the option to renew the league like all my others. If someone can tell em what i am doing wrong then do so! If not i will just set up a new league and set up the same settings and send you all the info.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
My keepers as of today: C Miguel Montero 1B Carlos Pena 2B Chase Utley SS Erik Aybar 3B Brandon Wood (I guess) LF Manny Ramirez CF Jay Bruce RF Nick Markakis SP John Lester SP John Danks CL Mike Gonzalez CL Frank Francisco RP Neftali Feliz I am torn about my CF and, to a lesser extent, my SP choices. I have Bruce, Carlos Gonzalez, Franklin Gutierrez, and Lastings Milledge with CF eligibility. Now, I can use Bruce as a keeper this year but not actually as a CFer in 2010 because he lost his CF eligibilty going forward. Gonzalez and Gutierrez are both deserving of keeper status as well...so I would be interested in trade offers for this group. For SP, I am pretty set on Lester (unless I get a nice offer and decide to trade him) but less set on spot number two. Danks is the best bet to me, but Buchholz, Lilly, Masterson, and Oswalt intrigue me. If you would be interested in any of these, I would listen. For RP, I am pretty set on my three keepers, but Angel Guzman, Chris Perez, Brad Ziegler and, unless not allowed in that spot, Masterson would all be intriguing for that last RP spot. In the end, I would be most interested in upgrading at third base and catcher....so keep that in mind as you make offers.

Re: Keeper League Offseason Thread
i did find out i can assign draft order and assign keepers...and i can change them all the way up to the draft... so send em in as you get em worked out...even if it is only a few of the guys...
my keepers as of today:
c-wieters 1-berkman 2-brian roberts 3-longoria ss-mike young (though eligible only at 3b) lf-zobrist (2b/ss/lf/rf) cf-bj upton rf-kendry morales (though only 1b eligible)
sp-strasburg sp-johan santana rp-papelbon rp-coco cordero rp-porcello
who i coudl trade in combination with these guys to get an upgrade:
Inge everth cabrera mark ellis garret jones nolan reimold eugenio velez
ryan franklin tim hudson jespen millwood moylan clayton richard anibal sanchez sean west
So, i like my keepers, but for the actual season it looks like i might have some issues...with SS and RF
we have one Utility spot to use during the season..so i can obviously use one of them...but sine Kendry is only 1b eligible and Young is 3b...and i have both those positions filled with Longoria and berkman...i need to make a trade of one of the following:
Michael Young Kendry Morales Lance Berkman
to fill either RF or SS..or maybe LF (Zobrist is eligible at SS, LF, RF)
so if you have any intriguing RF's or SS's...i have plenty to trade of high value even beyond these 3 (Hudson, Everth, Reimold, Franklin, Garrett Jones) ...and dont lowball me...i will keep the guys if i need...injuries will always happen
so...let me know...my desires are pretty straight forward

RE: Keeper League Offseason Thread
I am definitely in the market for a 1B and a C. Let me know if you would like to swap players to fill a need of yours.
thejager - I'd be interested in trading for either Berkman or Morales. I have Jed Lowrie, Scott Podsednik, and Skip Schumaker that fit your SS/LF/RF desire. I know that none of them are elite talents, but maybe I can put together a package to interest you.
bovthomas - any interest in upgrading at closer? I'd be willing to deal one of my closers (Wood, Bell, or Marmol) for Adrian Gonzalez or Joey Votto. Would you trade Votto for Wood straight up?
