What Posters Have You Met?

What Posters Have You Met?

Well, last Saturday I finally met my first fellow poster in person. I had breakfast in Madison, WI with Mags and his son Jeremy. Needless to say, Mags is a peach of a guy and his son will no doubt follow in his footsteps. Mags & Son were on their way up to some secluded cabin in upper Minnesota to get in two weeks of walleye fishing. Hopefully, he'll share some pics of a few of the monsters they reeled in with us on this thread when they return home in another week.

Pugs, thanks for being our gracious host--Jeremy is already requesting a return.  We arrived in Vicksburg this a.m.  Fishing was lots of fun as we caught several pike, smallmouths and walleye.

And thank you for helping us recover from the attack by that vicious Cub fan--we're sure that's the culprit who flattened the tire on my vehicle.  We had no more problems after you left.

Ha! A "vicious cub fan" was my first thought too, Mags, but after giving it some serious thought, I'm thinking it was none other than your very own Jeremy who snuck out there and flattened it during one of his restroom breaks so we all could stay longer. During our 2 hour conversation, Jeremy seemed at the edge of his seat. At first I thought he was looking to make a break for it, but then it hit me.......he was most enthralled with our conversation and didn't want it to end. Glad you're home safe. Not many would brave it by themselves in a cabin out in Grizzly country for a couple weeks with nothing more than a Louisville slugger autographed by Scipio Spinks, for protection.

LOL!

BTW:  I did not have to pull the Bearguard out of the holster--other than the aforementioned incident, the Cub fans gave us wide berth.

Bald eagles were our most serious challengers for our fish!

I met Brian at a game in Busch II a few years ago.  Probably 2005 or so.  That's it.  Don't have many opportunities to meet other posters since I'm stuck here in New England.

I've never met any of the posters since like UConn, I'm not a local. Usually I make it to St. Louis for a game or two every couple of years, but I haven't been there since '09. Next time I get there I'll put out the word and see if I can meet up with anyone.

And speaking of cabins (the first post in this thread), that is where I am heading today. I'm heading up to our cabin in the Big Horn Mountains in northern Wyoming.  And like Mags, I'm bring my son along as well. He graduated from UW in '09 and is still living in Laramie, so I'm picking him up on the way and we'll hang out at the cabin for a couple of days as my mom has some work she needs us to do up there. But we'll find time for a little r&r as well.

Re: What Posters Have You Met?

I've been to a few games with Carioca, but it's been years.  I particularly remember watching a game when he and I saw Pujols play in high-A in 2000, when Pujols was still a third baseman.  Near misses with Brian.  I think that's it, but I've been posting so long I'm worried I've forgotten someone!

Enjoy the cabin, bikemike!  And Mags, years ago my family used to go fishing in that part of the world, especially for walleye.  Glad it was a good trip, even with that Cubs fan.
