AncientCardFan could use your help and prayers

AncientCardFan could use your help and prayers

Below is a PM from AncientCardFan, one of our family members here that I have re-posted with his blessings:

"I've sustained a series of heart attacks which have left me with quite literally half of a heart (the bottom and most of the back have been destroyed). After the occlusion of 2 of 3 grafts, I am propped by a powerful beta blocker and 4 stents (2 in the circumflex and 2 in the anterior descending). Having reached a point of diminishing returns, my Cardiologists are now simply keeping me as comfortable as possible. While some days are more challenging than others, the overpowering days are beginning to outnumber the days in which I am able to enjoy a few simple things. Accordingly, interest in this life becomes swallowed by fascination with the next."

I also received the note below from him after asking for his permission to post that note:

"I've been praying a great deal lately and I'm honored by the thought of others praying for me. I would hope that they would be moved to beg the Father in my behalf for the crowning grace of taking me instantly in my sleep."

Wow. That's some incredible courage ACF is showing. But in a somewhat selfish way, it is my wish that he recover and stick around here for a good number of years longer.

Hang in there ACF You are truly a warrior!! ! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

What an awesome testimony to a life lived in the grace of God.

Here's my prayer:

Dear God,

You certainly know our friend who we call ACF much better than we do. Thank you for his life and what he has added to ours. You know that his body is growing week but that his spirit is strong. You know his pain and You know how tired he has become. If You see fit, we all join together asking You to touch his body with Your healing. Give his heart new energy and restore his strength. Father, that is our request.

If, in Your wisdom, You have decided that his time here with us is over, then we ask You to be gracious and quick and bring him home to You. When he gets there, would You introduce him to Greg? I know they'd enjoy talking baseball together.

Whatever You decide, Father, we ask that Your Spirit will bring comfort to ACF and his family. May we all find joy in knowing that he is Yours, whether he is with You in Heaven soon or if he gets another season of cheering our Cards here with us. We leave him in Your loving hands.

This is our prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Included in my prayers as well.
Gosh, I hate to read that, but at the same time, I am touched and inspired by ACF's words. I really can't explain how inspired I am.
I will continue to pray for our friend.

From his very first post you knew AncientCardFan was a very special person. And not just because he loved the same team as we do. After reading his thoughts, you always come away with that warm feeling in your heart. I have no doubt that AncientCardFan has positively touched many people in his life and will continue to do so as it's not time for him to leave yet. Furthermore, I have a bone to pick with this fine man.......why did it take you so long to find us here?

Powerful words ACF.  Your communication skills are exceptional.  However, note that we don't want you to stop posting....

"Powerful" is the outpouring from compassionate souls in this thread. There is a magical component in this site, which is manifested from the hearts of some of the most knowledgeable men and women in The Cardinal Nation. Since I can't know when (or if) I will once again have the physical wherewithal to get online, this humbled man would be remiss if he failed now to express gratitute for your gracious thoughts and prayers. It is truly an adventure just to get from my bed to the rest room or to any location in my abode.

While I am thankful to God for preserving me long enough to have seen Games 6 and 7 of the World Series, I am not only elated about the subsequent departures of Tony and Albert, but reasonably feel that a repeat (and even a three-peat) is possible, if not probable. Your good faith in our team certainly ought to be rewarded in witnessing such greatness.

May the God of grace richly reward each of you for petitioning Him in my behalf and for deigning to give me such encouragement.

Proud Tim

Tell me AncientCardFan's picture doesn't fit perfectly with his character and also one of the two most beloved men on this planet. AncientCardFan is exactly how I would envision the real Santa Claus to look. You have much work to do in preparation of Christmas, AncientCardFan......hang it there so we can meet for the Cards opening ST game down in Florida.......I bet we can even talk Diz into going.
