Barret Loux (pronounced "loud") was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Year. Cardinals likely have their work cut out since they are three games under .500 on the road this season.

Loux has a very interesting background. He was taken in the first round, sixth overall in 2010 by Arizona. They came to agreement on a $2 MM contract, but he failed his physical with multiple problems - both shoulder and elbow. The Snakes backed out, taking a comp pick the next year instead. Loux became a free agent and signed with Texas. Like Michael Wacha, Loux pitched for Texas A&M as a collegian.

The Cardinals haven't seen Loux since his first two starts of the year. He threw five scoreless at Hammons Field on 4/7 and six days later, allowed two runs in 5 2/3 at home. Springfield had 14 hits and four walks against him versus seven strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings - but that was a long time ago...
