Re: MLB game 143 thread: Cards at Padres: Wed 9/12
I don't care what happens the rest of the way, if our Cards get swept in this situation with our ace going, then they do not deserve playing in 163+ games this season. As mentioned above, due to our inability to win these most meaningful late season games, the Cards are no longer in a 3 horse race, but now a 5 horse affair. It's really odd in that our Cards still have a one game lead in this thing, but I'd say the chances of us making the playoffs are about the same as UCONN sending Nathan one of her scrumptious cakes for his 57th birthday.

This team is stuck in BLAH. They need some kind of spark asap. Start a bench clearing brawl, schedule Carp to pitch, call up a hot rookie in Taveras....something...anything. The best thing I can say about this team's performance right now is that I'm so greatful football has started.

...and a runner at second base with one out does not translate to a run in the second inning...

Pads have the foresight of giving Forsythe the nod at 2nd base today and he rewards them with a 2nd inning solo dong.....1-0 Pads heading to the 3rd.

Jay- Spanks a single to center!...listen to the Cardinal faithful cheer!....our very own Booyah was an integral part of that applause.
Carpenter- Drives one deep to right!!!....Venable looks up...looks over his shoulder...and feels absolutely helpless as it's long gone and this game is tied at 2!!!
Holliday- Rockets a grounger back up the middle and off Richard...it deflects to Forsythe at 2nd and he'll gun Matt out.
Craig- Hits it out to Headley at 3rd and Chase will rifle it on over to Alonso at 1st for out #2.
Yadi- Strikes out.

You really got to get a hold of one to get it out of RF.
Now we surrender the lead. 3-2
Guys I don't want to bring this up but when was yer last time we were swept by the Padres. We came close in 2010 when PJ Walters pitched 5+ and we blew em out.

--------------------------------------------- It's never happened in my lifetime...that I recall. Just checking on the action during a commercial break. Get this: At 7p(cst), the wifey comes into the computer room and horse-collars me...quickly tames me...and then leads me on upstairs to watch this week's boring episode of "Big Brother". My question to you guys is, "is this grounds for divorce"????
