RE: 2013 Cardinal Nation Community Prospect Voting Thread
I agree about Mateo. His line in winter league .341/.388/.386/.774.
In 2012 he hit .257 at QC. Played 2B, 10 errors in 100 games.
I see where he played at QC in 2010 and at Palm Beach in 2011 before getting hurt. Then back at QC for 2012.
He'll turn 23 next May. Needs to move along.

Dewen Perez 6'0" 175 LB left-handed starter
Turned 18 years old this past September. 38 K's (9.7 K/9) and a 3.06 ERA in 35.1 IP in DSL in his first season of pro ball.

Just to early to rank Perez this high given his age and he hasn't even pitched in the U.S yet. Although he was one of the top international signings last year only know can run his fastball in the low 90s.
A young southpaw that throws hard is always interesting.

I kind of like The Scruggster here at #52, but DesMet's Kiekhefer has me kind of intrigued. I think I need to do a little homework before rendering my decision here.

Anthony Ferrara at #52. Southpaw will solid stuff needs to find a way to stay healthy and gain more control.
Regarding Illdemaro Vargas there are to many MIF ahead of him as far as development goes on the organizational depth chart. Plus, he's been in the organization since 2006 has more experience in pro ball than many others. Next year will tell a lot more.

RE: 2013 Cardinal Nation Community Prospect Voting Thread
After much thought, I have to side with The Zilla, GM and Lurking by tabbing Vargas. I'll be looking real hard at DesMet's Kiekhefer in the next round.....unless of course I'm swayed in another direction between now and then.

Re: 2013 Cardinal Nation Community Prospect Voting Thread
Kiekhefer, I have seen quite a bit the last 2 yrs., first at QC, then at PB. If you like soft tossers, you'll like him as he tops out at about 87 or so. I say we see how he does at AA and AAA. Vargas will be in his 6th yr. in the system which means that he must climb through 5 levels (counting State College) before he becomes a minor league free agent( like Jose Garcia was this yr.) in 2 seasons.
