This series scares me. And unfortunately my cynical predictions have been coming true lately. I think Brewers take two of three from us this weekend. Tonight we win though, crushing Gallardo as we so often do.

I feel exactly the same way, (as DMENS) but the Cards may surprize us and sweep the untuckers.
I'm afraid that there will be a LONG rain delay.....storm coming from the west and is still in Kansas City!

Good! Took the coaster to work and the mlb app takes up way too much data usage on my phone. If anyone has it could they tell me a better way for me to save my plan. I've already had to upgrade it this month. Lucky for me this could be the only month I need it. |

Top of 1 Lohse pitching for St.Louis
Aoki- Pops a short fly to left..Descalso drifts back, Carpenter comes in and Descalso at almost the last moment gives way to Carpenter and he has it for the out.
Weeks- Hits it hard on the ground to 1st....Craig has it and schuffles it on over to Lohse covering 1st for out #2.
Braun-Strokes a one-hopper right at Descalso at short and he'll gun her on over to Craig at 1st to retire the side.

Bottom of 1 Gallardo dealing for Milwaukee...man does he need a trim to the back of that mop of his.
Jay- Blisters one to left that Braun will have to handle on a hop.....nice way to get it started, JayBird!!!
On an 0-1 fb in the dirt, it skips away from Maldonado behind the plate and Jay easily scampers into 2nd....has to be a pb charged to the Milwaukee receiver.
Carpenter- Whacks it past Weeks who barely had time to make a move on it and it will drive in Jay with the first run of the inning as it..Gomez has it in right center and Carpenter will check in at 2nd with a double....Matt has a little speed.
Beltran- Hits it to Weeks' left at 2nd...he gobbles it up and tosses it over to Hart at 1st for the out with Carpenter moving over to 3rd.
Craig- Hits it on the fly to medium depth out in center....Gomez has it and Carpenter is going for it from 3rd!!....here's the throw!!!......he's ou...safe!!!...on a very close play!! At first glance it looked like Carpenter was dead meat, but I think he hooked his left foot in there just before the tag...2-0 Cards!
Yadi- Grounds out to Bianchi at short.

Hart- Lines one to center...Jay races over into left-center..dives...and comes up empty and that baby will roll all the way to the wall!...Carpenter hustles on over and Hart will have to hold at 2nd with his 34th double of the year....Lohse left that pitch right over the heart of the plate for Corey.
Green- Lofts an easy attempt to Carpenter out in left...he has it for the out with Hart having to stay put at 2nd.
Gomez- Strikes out swinging!!....Now lohse can get out of this frame unscathed!
Maldonado-(related to Candy???)- Strikes out...sweet!

Freese- Bounces it back up the middle and over Gallardo's outstretched glove...but Weeks had him shaded over near the bag and he'll gobble it up and peg it on over to Hart for the out.
Schu- Flys out to Braun in left.
Descalso- Come on Daniel lets reach base her to get that pitchers slot out of the way here this inning. He strikes out swinging and Gallard has himself a 1-2-3 inning....can't let this guy settle in on the hill or Lohse is going to have to be mighty stingy the rest of the way in this one.....kind of like what he's been doing this entire season for us.

Bianchi- hits a routine roller out to Schu at 2nd.....and boy that Bianchi can fly down the line!!!.....Bianchi is out, but just barely.
Gallardo- Strikes out swinging....it took only 3 pitches for Lohse to dispatch his pitching counterpart via the ko route....2 down.
Aoki- Sizzles it on the ground to Craig's right....Craig makes a beautiful high backhanded play....leads Lohse to the bag nicely with his throw and Aoki has been robbed of a hit on the play and Alan Craig is the pertetrator.....dandy of a play!

Lohse- Grounds it meekly to Weeks at 2nd, who will make the short throw over to Hart at 1st for the out.
Jay- Spanks it hard to left for a hit and Jon is 2-2 on the young evening!
Carpenter- Laces it on a line and it will fall in for a hit in front of Gomez in center as Carpenter too joins the 2-2 club!! Jay has to hold at 2nd.
Beltran- Hits it on the ground out to Weeks at 2nd..feeds it to Bianchi for one...over to Hart at 1st and Beltran beats the throw....Jay over to 3rd with 2 outs.
Craig- Fooled on a Gallardo hook for strike 3.
Cards 2 Brewers 0......this one could easily finish 2-0.

Weeks- Lines a single to right to open the Brewer 4th.
Braun- Rifles a base hit to right!...Weeks rounds 2nd and Beltran has a play on him at 3rd...but it skips past Freese...but fortunately into the netting near the Redbird dugout so Weeks cannot tippy-toe on home....Braun takes up residence at 2nd.....trouble is "brewing" now, folks!
Hart-Way out in front on a 3-2 change and he heads back to the Brewer cave dejected....1 out.
Green- Chops it out to Craig at 1st and Craig will take her over to the bag himself with the hustling Grren having to settle for the silver medal in that race...however, Weeks crosses home with the first Brewer tally of the night and we now have a 2-1 ballgame....Braun to 3rd.
Maldonado- Grounds it to Schu at 2nd and he'll throw it to Craig at 1st and that will retire the side.

Schu-Skies it out to center....Gomez drifts back a few strides and he'll haul it in for the out.....boy the sound of that ball leaving Schu's bat led you to believe that we were going to be momentarily looking at a 3-1 game.....but you get no points...or runs for making the ball sound great when your lumber meets the ball.
