Going up to Quad Cities tonight to watch this series and maybe Saturday, I'll have a report if it doesn't cause too much fighting or bickering like it has before.

Re: Minor league thread: Wed 5/30

One player to watch that I think could be a real sleeper is Tyler Rahmatulla. He was set back by a couple stints on the DL, but is now hitting .325 while playing 3B for the Bandits. So far in his minor league career, he has an overall average of .317, an OBP of .390, an OPS of .925 with 39 doubles, 3 triples, 10 homers, 63 RBI's in 91 games and 340 AB's. I saw him in spring training and came away impressed. He is still just 22, so I think he's got a real shot especially since Cox is faltering.

How much have you seen of Rasmus, Sport? Are his skills behind the dish as advertised (really good)? Can he hit enough to move up a few rungs of the ladder?

Yea the first inning was a little tedious.  It was 10-0 before the opponent recorded an out.  It's really hard to judge a game like that obviously the Bandits hit well but the opposing pitcher just well, wasn't very good at all.  They did score 7 more runs off of better pitching later on in the game.   Garcia looked a lot better than the other times I've seen him.  Before he often looked overmatched.  This time he didn't but the pitcher didn't have overmatching stuff.  Gavioliga looked good with a lot of movement on his pitches.  The stadium gun fluncated wildly with the gun a scout in front of me had.  I really didn't buy the scouts gun either.  It wasn't a stalker and it had Gav's first 7 pitchers were 89 even though they appeared to be thrown at different speeds. I questioned why Hill started in CF with Martini in RF but Hill did well.  I think this may be his last chance.  He's got such fantastic talent I hope he puts it together.  Not sure why Rahmatulla is at 3rd when he could be playing 2nd base.  He hit  the ball well as usual.  Unfortunatley Miguel Sano didn't play.  Not sure if there will even be a game today because it's rained ALL day.  If not guess there will be a Double Header tomorrow.  May stay for Sat to see Jenkins pitch too.

Re: Minor league thread: Wed 5/30

Find out why Luis Mateo hasn't been playing for a few days despite his fine performance this year. I assume a minor ailment of some kind. Maybe Sport knows. As for Rahmatulla, I'm glad he is at third what with Kolten Wong and Starlin Rodriguez ahead of him. Looks like he'll hit enough for 3B.

Re: Minor league thread: Wed 5/30

Mateo has been one of the better players the first few games that I've seen QC this year.  I'm assuming he's hurt because Neil Priticard was starting at 2nd.  Interested in seeing Villenovia today if there is a game.  He looked pretty good in Spring but was definately a soft tosser.  I remember a coach bring over another coach to watch him saying, he's a guy that really knows how to pitch.

Re: Minor league thread: Wed 5/30

Thanks for reports, scadder21. I'm pretty envious, but I'll catch them again when they visit Peoria later in June. Looks like Castillo, Mateo, Rahmatulla, Walsh, and Williams could be keepers for sure among position players plus some fair looking pitchers. Seems like a staff of finesse pitchers in Gaviglio, H. Hernandez, Villanueva. Jenkins throws hard, but kind of inconsistent so far.
