You forgot the blue font, although in this case it wasn't really necessary. ;-)

Besides, you also forgot to throw in Aaron Miles.  Just because he's not on our team doesn't mean we still can't trade him.

Sorry. I missed your post that preceded stlcards5129.

In looking at it realistically, I think you're right, and I don't want to gut our farm system for one player either.

But I still think  Mozeliak ought to at least inquire about Price if he hasn't already. I thought I saw a little smoke over there in Tampa surrounding Price, and where there's smoke...........

By the way any deal that includes Lohse or Westbrook or Schu-man in a deal for Price has to include Hellickson.

These young men are people trying to make a future for themselves. You can criticize when you're not satisfied, but you don't have to to rip them the way you do. When McClellan came up from Springfield in 2009, he did a great job in middle relief, and, in my opinion, he could do it again. I like stats, too, but stats aren't everything.

Like I said, you don't like it, don't read it. There is a nice little feature called ignore this user, find stlcards5129 and click it.

Its amazes me that this thread is supposed to be about trade ideas, acquisition ideas, and non-card rumors, and I see very little of that. I wonder why?!

Because it's the slow season, and "wishing" isn't on the title of the thread.

Crazy ideas of trading Lohse, Westbrook and Schumaker for Hellickson or Price are pointless. It's kind of hard to talk about rumors when the Cardinals haven't been linked to anyone since Beltran signed.

Austin, just remember You've got to dream it first. There's no chance of it happening, if you don't dream it first.

I don't know about that one. None of the dreams I have come true. Heck, it wouldn't be much of a dream if it were actually possible. Then again, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel might want to go ahead and get acquainted, just in case. wink

I was quoting one of Mr. lemurian's post from page 2, but those dreams sound nice.

Oh, I know you were. That's just a saying (or sentiment) now that gets drilled into our kids when they are "competing" in Field Day where everyone is wearing a helmet and everyone gets a blue ribbon. God bless sports, since I think sports are the only place left where kids learn that failure is possible.

Oh, ok just trying to clarifying, making sure no one thinks that came from my head. It's a sorry sentiment at that.

McClellan was excellent coming out of the bullpen in middle relief in 2009 - 2010. If he stays in middle relief, I can see no reason why he wouldn't be very good again. If we trade him, there's a strong possibility that another team could develop him as a reliable middle of the rotation starter.
That is not even remotely true.

He has never been excellent (as has been pointed out time and time again) and I would bet my house that he never becomes a "middle of the rotation" starter.

If any of that were true, we'd have no problem trading him for something useful.  Why haven't we done it?

Chirp, chirp.

According to the Boston Globe, the Cardinals are looking at Oswalt.

I still don't see this as a fit. Oswalt would have to be willing to take a significant team discount to pitch in STL with the Cardinals not really in need of another starting pitcher.

Jon Heyman says Boras is asking for $15-17M per year for Edwin Jackson.

I've also read he is looking for 5 years, something along the lines of a 5 year 75 million dollar deal. Awfully pricey.

When you have Loshe and Westbrooke in your rotation you are in NEED of another SP.

Why? Please explain this, rather than just saying something without backing it up in any way shape or form.
