RE: Former Cardinals sign deals

Congrats to PJ. It is great to see him take advantage of his opportunity. I am sure 3up is very proud.

3up, if you are cruising through, give us a shout out. We miss you here.

It's been great seeing PJ have this success. I check the Twins' scores every time he starts. That's always been one of my favorite non-Cardinal organizations, every since I was a kid and they had guys like Killebrew, Oliva and Jim Kaat. I didn't care for them much is '87 though biggrin, and never liked the dome. Nice to see them back in a real baseball stadium.

They are finally playing better too. Morneau is another guy that I'm happy to see have some success.

So great for P.J.   Just goes to show, that sometimes guys just need a change of scenery and manager and pitching coach who believe in them! I am really happy for him.
I'm really happy for P.J. but don't see any reason to throw TLR, Duncan and the St. Louis Cardinals under the bus.
Not neccesarily TLR and Duncan, just managers and coaches who instill confidence in him. Congratulations to PJ!

Another former Redbird hurler who is having success not only on the field, but in the media is Chris Perez. He's been outspoken about the fans in Cleveland, or lack thereof, and it's gotten some press.

Meanwhile he's racked up 14 saves or so already.

I must say that I focus far too much on my little world and the Cardinals.  I didn't realize he had 3 starts with the Twins already until reading about his CG.  I will now have to follow him a little more.  He has always seemed like he is one of those pitchers that will have to prove everyone wrong all the time in order to continue to get his chance.  It will be nice if he can take advantage and earn the right to have a bad few outings and still get his turn in the rotation.

Re: Former Cardinals sign deals

Glad to see PJ doing well. He was alway one of my favorites.

When he pitched at Memphis he threw some absolutely nasty offspeed stuff, but when he went to St. Louis he seemed to nibble with fast balls more.

don't know if it was lack of confidence in his offspeed stuff or if he was trying to pitch like Duncan wanted him to. But there was a difference in the way he pitched.

former Cardinal Jose Martinez is now in the Astros organization (surprise!) and is playing SS for their AA team.  He has a very impressive .874 OPS.  He is 26 which is old for the league but considering he has been pretty much out of the pro game for the last 3 years it makes sense that he is there and is a pretty amazing return.

It appears that the Dodgers will be bringing up Alex Castellanos to replace Matt Kemp. Castellanos, you will recall, was sent to the Dodgers last year in exchange for Rafael Furcal.

Tyler Johnson got promoted from Double-A Tulsa to Triple-A Colorado Springs in the Rox organization.  Talk about a blast from the past.

According to MLB.com, the Tigers signed David Kopp. Good luck to David and Born in Orange.

More than that, in some cases - Jamie Moyer has signed with Baltimore.

I wouldnt mind picking up Ankiel for the bench and CF defense. Alittle late inning PH pop that we don't have right now.

While still posing a serious arm and being a good athlete Rick has a career OBP of .306. He is down to .282 OBP this year with very little pop. Plus he hits left handed while we could use a righty to spell Jay IMO. The price would be right but i don't see a fit here.
