Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
We need something to get us through this dark, frigid and snowy winter. Maybe we need to completely analyse the scores of prospects in our system who did not crack the top 49 so we get it right? Conducting a thorough prospectorial investigation like this takes time. I'm seriously contemplating setting the deadline for voting on Top Prospect 50 to end at high noon on March 1st.

RE: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
Siegrist for me but it's exciting that we have so many that won't even make our Top 50. Luis Perez, the power of Kyle Conley, Juan Bautista who has a big time arm as does Victor De Leon who Goold has in his Cardinals Top 30, throws 95, hits 98.

I'm all for letting the vote for #50 run until March 1st. Pugsley, you are a fine upstanding sheriff. It's been great fun although from my NC perch, all I know about prospects is what I read on this site during the year.

Let it be known that this Sheriff takes no bribes or payoffs whatsoever.....unless it's cash under the table of course. March 1st it is. Those that have already voted for #50 have the right reserved to change their ballot if they should choose to do so down the road. The opportunity is now ours to fully look at and do our best to evaluate all players not already voted in to our top 49. By the time the ides of March roll around, all of us are going to know more about our complete farm system than the fans of any other team know about the top 10 of their's.

Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
Not the right thread, but thought I would post anyway.
I've been looking for some discussion on this, but haven't seen anything of late. I know many of you are upset that Pujols is gone and may not want to have this conversation, but what will 2012 be like? Primarily, will Lance take over 1st base? Or is there a chance that Adams comes out of Spring Training with the Job?
My guess is Adams goes to AAA and potential call up during the year.

Yes, Adams is a year away. Without doubt, I believe he's going to be patrolling 1st base for our Cardinals for many years to come and he's going to be a dandy.

Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
As a point of conversation, where should OF Eric Komatsu be ranked? I would suggest somewhere in the 20-25 range. If he is ranked would that make the further ongoing discussion of #50 moot, or should he get a #__A ranking and be inserted into the list accordingly?

Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
I would say 20 to 25 range would be fair. He may not be in the system more than a year though if he cannot stick with the big league club which could be a stretch for a team that should still contend for the Central..

Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
Welcome autogirl! Great to see you here!
Pugs-
Thanks for both the welcome back and for your good work on the thread. As to my whereabouts...a death in the family followed by some health issues (nothing scary, just annoying), followed by then being far too behind in my work....given that, I had to limit what I'd focus on for a couple months. Not the best time for that as baseball goes, though I did watch most of the playoffs.
Siegrest for me at 50, though I'd forgotten about Maness, who is very tempting...

Komatsu was #14 for the Brewers last year. Had a solid year at Huntsville but fell off after the trade to the Nats.

Thanks, Oqie!
I could see Komatsu as as high as 14 on our list this year. Rankings get hard after Jackson.

Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
I would go more like 20-23. I wouldn't rank him above Chambers who performed better at a higher level or Tilson at #19. I also would not rank him above Cleto or Reifer.
Closer to Tommy Pham at #21.

RE: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
Folks, may I please ask for a special vote from the community to decide where you would place Komatsu in your rankings? Ideally, it would be decided by the end of this week. The reason I ask is that your ranking is weighted 1/3 in the site countdown. I want to ensure you are represented as we plug Komatsu in between the existing prospects on the list. In other words, this year, our site top 40 will actually have 41 players. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2012 Community Top 50 Prospects Voting Thread
#20 for Komatsu
That places him behind Chambers and Tilson and above Pham.
