I think if Lynn pitches well in this one, win or lose, that will be impressive and for the most part the questions surrounding him can be laid to rest.  If they havent already been, that is.

Any word on the lineup yet?  Assume both Jay and Ostruck will be in the lineup against the righthander Cole.

I asked Matheny about it this past weekend. (See my free summations of Matheny's pre-game comments from all three days on the home page.)

The net of his answer is that the only time he is batting Jay second is when Wong is taking a day off.

He also talked about Jay representing a bottom-of-the-order threat, which makes sense. Need production there too.

Apparently that is tomorrow's game. MLB Network for me is showing MLB Tonight.

They are separate things. MLB.TV is watching games over the internet or your mobile device. MLB Network is a channel on your cable or satellite TV system.

The wunnerful offense is at it again.  No hits through five innings.  Cole is dealing, however.

1-0 Pirates heading to the last of the 5th.

I thought I read somewhere that Taveras had shortened up his swing.  Really?

They really should give Sam a better number.  #71 is a spring training number they give to a guy who won't be in big league camp too long.

Not sure why MM took him out after only 5 pitches. Maness in and in trouble.

What is the point of having four lefties in the bullpen if you aren't going to use one in the bottom of the 8th in a tie game with two on and a guy with big power and huge issues against southpaws?

Just don't understand.

MM let Maness face the lefty with power. Mr. Matchups failed to follow his book. This loss is on MM.

I agree letting Maness face Davis was a really bad idea.
