Thought I would get the comments started for tonights game.  Hopefully LL can continue his good outings and we can get another W tonight.  The Padres certainly arent a pushover by any means.  We were aided last night by two questionable calls by the umpires, both of which went our way or else we might have lost last night.

I was hopeful that we could win three of these four and after last night's debacle by Rosenthal i am also hopeful we can win going away tonight.  Then again, i hope that every night the way Rosenthal pitches anymore.

By the way, whats the forecast, whats the weather like in downtown St. Louis?  Forecast for SW Indiana starting tomorrow is rain the next 3-4 days.  Imagine that.  This has really been a cool, wet summer - so far.

If Tyson Ross comes out looking like Clayton Kershaw, it's because he just might be (that good). Since the start of July only Kluber and Kershaw have been better than Ross. Since July 1 Kluber's ERA is 1.33, Kershaw's 1.42, and Ross' 1.53.

The guy you would have wanted from Cleveland instead of Masterson had you known who they were.  ;-)

Lineup: Carpenter, Wong, Holliday, Adams, Peralta, Pierzynski, Jay, Robinson, Lynn.

So, Robinson starts again ehh! Well at least he has a better arm than anyone else they could put out there.
BTW, I noticed a Neshek for Cy Young thread. I would simply like to say, Neshek for closer for the remainder of this season.

Matheny made it pretty clear that Oscar is in the doghouse. Another start for Robinson appears to back that up.

Maybe. That last play on Wed. didn't look good for OT.

Did Matheny say something?  Also, what was the "last play" for OT?  Was it baserunning?

Edit to add:  Nevermind, I found an article of Matheny's quotes on the subject.

Thanks for that info. Sounds like he's asking for more effort. I wonder if the kid isn't feeling pressure to perform up to expectations and that frustration might be hindering his effectiveness. Like maybe he is too focused on trying to get the big hit and neglecting some of the less sexy aspects of the game like baserunning.  Just a theory.

Wong drives in Jay (HBP) for the 3rd run. B4th, Cards up 3-0.

Pen doing the job so far. Freeman and Maness take care of the 7th and 8th. Rain about to bring about a significant delay if this thing doesn't end quickly. Looks like Neshek will get the save opportunity since he is warming up in the bottom of the 8th.
