If I am the manager and this dud gets bombed out of another game, it will be his last start in St. Louis.

I am going to reveal some of my higher level of baseball knowledge here.  Masterson will be masterful tonight and the Cardinals will win.  I could explain all of this to you but, unfortunately, it would be way over most of your heads and you wouldnt comprehend it.

Just remember, Masterson will be masterful tonight and the Cards get a much needed win.

Our sticks have a tough challenge tonight. We need to change the recent fortunes of Eovaldi. Here's an excerpt from the mlb.com preview.

Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi, meanwhile, could be primed for a strong finish if his last two starts are any indication.
The right-hander is coming off back-to-back starts against the Reds, and he combined to allow one run in 15 innings with 12 strikeouts.
At Cincinnati in his last outing, Eovaldi matched his career high by throwing eight innings. His fastball command was strong, and he was throwing hard all game. In the eighth inning, he struck out Billy Hamilton with a 98-mph heater.

No, Rats, that's unacceptable.  I don't know how you think you arrived at an intellectual level beyond the posters on here but I would surmise that any argument you might venture in that direction would run from specious to inane.  No, if you have this higher level of knowledge I would very much like to know where you attained it and to also have you explain it to us. I'm sure we will do our best to try and reason on your level.  I'm confident that will not be difficult.  I am here all day-please enlighten us on just how Masterson will dazzle us tonight.

Thanks for these insights! I feel much better about tonight's game. wink

Best lineup possible in my opinion.

You do wonder that if he goes out and gets shelled again, how long management will run him out there.

Obviously they see a lot more than us - sideline sessions, mechanics, movement on pitches, etc. They must feel he's throwing better than the results indicate.

Or maybe it's just that there are no other alternatives right now, and even though the guy looks horrible on the sidelines and stats-wise, maybe they can somehow eek out a 10-9 win. biggrin

Masterson looks good in his first two innings pitched...and Adams drives in two with a clutch 2-out, bases loaded single in the 3rd inning to put the Redbirds up 2-0.

If you don't have enough offense to win with your ace pitching, how much difference does it make who your 4th and 5th starters are?  Mo wasted his time thinking about pitching before the deadline, and if he's thinking about it now, he's still wasting his time.

Masterson cruising through 4. Maybe some fans were a little too quick to dismiss him.

Marlins give us a gift run in the 5th on a throwing error, now 3-0. Then, Adams missed driving in another on line shot that was foul by just a few inches before striking out...nice to see him with some good swings tonight.

You think?

However I think we need to see where he's at over his next 2 starts to get a clue of what we really have. Still a long way to go in this one.

Masterson doing it all tonight -- RBI single in the 6th to make it 4-0.

Ratsbuddy:

My hat goes off to you and your knowledge that no one else has.  You called it-Masterson was the star.  You were right and I was wrong.  I'll never doubt you again.
