Not official yet, but looks like Cards could be inserting Lackey here. He last pitched for Red Sox on Saturday, July 26.

Just saw Lackey is starting Sunday. So we're going with Waino, Masterson, and Lackey against the Brewers. Not messing around.

I doubt Kelly vs. Lackey matchup had anything to do with the decision. Brewers haven't seen Lackey very much, if at all, same for the Sox and Lynn. I like the decision very much.

Hoping the offense can finally start to have some consistency.  That 9 run outburst yesterday was hopefully a sign of things to come.  If we haven't scored through the first 4-5 innings today then I assume we are back to our old selves.  May not be easy against Garza.

I'll be tuned in for this one.  Curious to see Lackey pitch.  Masterson didn't seem to be much of a pitcher to me and I am sort of figuring Lackey is in the same boat.  Nothing really more than innings eaters but if we can score some runs maybe they can win some games for us.

No comparison between the two, no matter how Lackey fares today. Lackey had an 11-7 record for a last place team in the AL East.

Looking forward to Lackey today. Masterson wasn't great yesterday, but he got through six innings. I expect Lackey will go at least 6 today too.

Garza has been tough against us, so let's see if we can score a few and win this series.

Wednesday Kelly vs Miller should be interesting.

Offense blows a chance to get on the board in the 5th.

Lackey at 70+ pitches here in the 6th.  Efficient outing.

Man, we've finally woken up and taken the lead in the 7th. Have to be happy with Lackey today keeping us in it while the offense was doing nothing.

Well, we had nothing but Descalso to send up as a pinch hitter with 2 RISP.  He Ks of course.

At least we are now up 3-2.

Anybody else hear the comments Joe Buck made about the trouble in the Cards club house.

Wow, what a win. Only the big comeback against Milwauke a few weeks ago was perhaps bigger. We are just 1 game back now, and have 7 games against the Brewers in September.

Lackey was as advertised. We won both games with our new starters, and both gave us at least six innings. Nice rebound after a tough on Friday night.

Missed that.  How about a summary.

Nice win.  Lackey and the pen looked good.  Offense had just enough, which is all it takes.

Re: 2014 MLB game #110: Cards vs. Brewers: Sun 8/3

Bling, you want a summary?  Roenicke did a really, really bad job of managing his pen today.   2-0 Milwaukee in the St. Louis 7th.  Holliday homers against a lefty, and then they let a righty in to face two lefties (AJ & Ostruck) and they both got hits.  I bet the Brewer faithful are honked over this loss.

And, of course, once again Rosenthal is shaky.  Leadoff single, a one out walk, but he manages to get out of it.  He is, most of the time, a disaster waiting to happen.  We were EXTREMELY fortunate to have won this game today.

Re: 2014 MLB game #110: Cards vs. Brewers: Sun 8/3

Ad dumb managerial moves go, the Brewers' skipper may have over-managed and produced the bone head decision of the year. He pinch hits for Garza who had allowed one hit and had only thrown 71 pitches in the game. Kudos to the Milwaukee brain trusts, thankyee.
