Thanks to Waino's Tuesday night bomb Lance Lynn has the opportunity to tie Adam Wainwright for most wins by a Cardinal pitcher since 2012 at 45 wins. Only Max Sherzer has more wins in all of baseball over that time period (48). I know wins aren't a completely telling statistic for pitchers, but still... go Lance!

Let's hope Lynn can stay strong in the second half.

Of note, we've scored 3 or less in 3 of our first 4 games since the Break. We've won 1 of those 3, which is consistent if anything for the season. Going into the break, we were playing 40+% of our games scoring 3 or less, and winning only about 30% of those. What kept our record up was winning a really high percentage of games in which we've scored 4 or more. I think that percentage will drop some given our current pitching situation, so we're going to have to win more games scoring 3 or less, and/or play less games scoring 3 or less.

I'd really like to see Taveras get a start. If Matheny wants Craig's bat in the lineup so bad, he should play Taveras in CF.

Taveras is hitting .200 with three extra base hits in 80 at bats. The offense is already anemic enough with Craig in the lineup and Wong tailing off again. No, what St. Louis needs to do is trade for some offensive punch before it is too late.

Let's see, no Molina in the lineup, Craig can't hit his way out of a room full of wet Kleenex, Wong is cooling, and 80 at bats and three extra base hits are not at all a predictor of how this guy might fare for the rest of the season. OK, got ya. Come on Carpenter, Holliday, Adams and Peralta, it's up to you guys to carry this entire offense.

Looks like we'll have to win tonight to stay within 1.5 games of Milwaukee.  They have a 4-1 lead on Cincinnati in the 7th at Miller Park.  I sort of have that feeling that we are about to see the demise of the Reds and this will soon be a three horse race.

Glad to see Oscar in the lineup tonight.  I'll switch back and forth between Perry Mason and the game, hoping to catch his atbats.

Brewers do win, complete sweep of Reds who lose their sixth straight and fall to 5.5 back of the division and 3.5 back of the Wild Card entering play tonight.

Watch the AB's not just the line score..  What kind of outs is Oscar making?

Apparently the Rays lineup just owns our pitchers.

5 Ks through two innings. Who knew this pitcher was so good?

7 Ks in 3 innings. It's like we're not even trying at the plate.

Lynn with similar control problems to Waino's last night. He's going to need 100+ pitches to get through 6 innings, and the offense isn't helping him.

Offense looks like dog dung again, nothing new there at all...

Adams with some slick plays tonight. He's saving Lynn on defense.

I am totally amused by someone above who was, incredibly, talking about the need for starting pitching. It doesn't matter if you have a rotation of Sandy Koufax, Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, Nolan Ryan and Warren Spahn if you can't score any runs. I personally am sick and tired of Jon Jay, Craig, Ellis, Descalso and would love to see them moved off this roster. Grichuk has 17 homeruns the last time I checked the Red Birds stats. At least you have a fighting chance for one swing with a guy like that.
I don't even feel like arguing anymore about the feeble hitting rookie and did you see, btw, Wong display frustration earlier in the game because he is sucking now too. ??
Add: This pitcher came into this game with a 5-6 record and a 4.08 ERA. Is he at 10 strikeouts yet, if not, he is very close.
