David Price

Posted: 7/20/2014 9:08 AM

David Price

This is no breaking news or anything but some of his family in Nashville(where I live) say that David has told them the last week to expect him to be in St Louis before the month is over if some t's get crossed and i's get dotted.

I took that to mean a new contract and money.

I'll believe it when it happens.

Re: David Price

I just moved this over here from another thread.

'The Cardinals remain fixated by Tampa Bay’s David Price.'
Link to Joe Strauss article in St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/joe-strauss /strauss-pitching-is-still-cards-biggest-need/arti cle_111544ee-bf7d-5f8c-a7e8-3d83f16e1641.html

Also, per MLBTR  'The Cardinals are interested in Price but would want a financial commitment, a major league source tells Cafrardo'.

There sure is a lot of smoke!

Re: David Price

I don't know why people have to be so negative when someone posts "inside" information.,  I find the information informative and  am glad to now which way Mozeliak is looking.

If the OP turns out to be incorrect, no big deal.

I do have a question for anyone who might know the answer.  Since the Cardinals don't have a deal to obtain Price, is it even possible for the Cardinals to have any interaction with the agent.?  I know there are likely ways around most things but I can't see how the Cardinals can speak with the agent for Price w/o actually acquiring him.  Correct?  Incorrect?

No one knows where or if Mo is looking anywhere.  Getting Price would be nice but we need a hitter.  Now if having Price would make it easier to trade a young pitcher in a Stanton deal then good.

Re: David Price

If I had to guess, I'd probably say that Price will wind up in Seattle. That club is all in on a run for the playoffs this year and the reports I've seen say that they would make the deal with no financial strings attached.

Stanton will not be a Cardinal...

Re: David Price

That is correct. Price will be in St. Louis before the end of the month. I can virtually guarantee it.

Re: David Price

I remain pretty skeptical on Price. I don't see how we get him without giving up top pitching prospects that we currently need anyway due to our injury-caused lack of depth. We'd probably also have to give up Taveras. I just don't see it happening.

Re: David Price

If we could dump Shelby Miller into that deal it would be a big help but as has been pointed out he's not helping our cause very much.

Re: David Price

Not sure why Tampa would want to trade Price now?  All of a sudden, after a dismal first half, they are only 7.5 games out in the AL East.  And its not even late July yet.

Re: David Price

Because right now they can get a lot for him, and they know he will not re-sign with them when his contract is up.
