Well a series that appeared to have the ear markings of a potential sweep for the Birdoes this afternoon now boils down to a raw rookie who can get through a lineup once before the wheels come off. Unfortunate to say the least.

2nd row, far right - that's my choice.

Mike's a little slow getting the lineup posted. Hopefully he's not agonizing over whether Wong should start. Or Taveras.

Since we have often heard "if the season ended today we would be in the playoffs", it is only right to point out that if the season ended now we would not make the playoffs. We would go home along with the likes of the Cubs and Astros while somebody else played on for the glory.

Matheny is overusing Molina. He should be getting more days off. He should be off today.

Couldn't agree more. Cards have a solid back up catcher gathering rust. Molina could play first base if MM wants to keep him in the lineup, but he needs time off from the wear and tear of catching.

I'd rather have Yadi rested and Cruz in there than Peralta rested and Descalso in there.  Is there any reason to think Peralta is in need of rest?  Or do we just not need every bat we can get?

Geez does Peralta always sit after hitting a homer? We are going to need a lot of runs today to win i think and Peralta gives the best chance to do that at the SS position. I been saying it all week but this Gonzalez kid is just not ready. Color me very unimpressed with his stuff. I don't get it. Looks like a less sharp Jaime Garcia to me. Not to say he doesn't have a bright future but they have rushed him big time and it is hard to understand why for me.

GO CARDS!

Well, the 1st could have been worse, 1-0, stranded two runners. I'm sure this stint in the bigs is valuable experience for Marco, but he does need some seasoning at Memphis. Needs to learn a little about pitching to advanced pro hitters. Get a little more familiar with how his stuff fairs against these guys and what he needs to do to be successful.

Wow, I have seen this movie before. Sad really and apparently no trade in sight. BTW, this offense should be arrested for impersonating a major league line up. But they do lead the majors in one stat, they have rolled into 80 double plays this season. Holliday has hit into 13 of those himself.

Someplace I read that the Cards hitters ground ball rate is up 10% this season.  That would lead to a lot of DPs.

Wow, a routine grounder to 2B goes for an infield single. This is the show Wongster, wake up.

Byrd just clouted his 18th homer of the year for the Phillies.

Marco no better than a 5 inning pitcher at this point. Have enough of those on staff at this point.

 Suggested U. of Illinois mascots

Agee,

Careful you get dissed here for dealing in reality. Beyond belief this team is so poor hitting the baseball. Mo has problems.

Mo is responsible for keeping Descalso on the team and MM for actually playing him.
