I don't get why you always think when Taveras is either pulled or isn't in the starting lineup you freak out about him being possibly traded?

Well DT, the whole idea was to send him to Memphis so he could play everyday.  He could have played now and then in St. Louis.  Add to that the fact there has been nothing about any type of injury that is being rested.  So what does that leave?

There have been issues with OT's attitude/effort in the past.  If that has cropped back up since he was sent back it would explain the bench time as well as the silence.  Other than that, efforts to work a trade is the most plausible explanation.  Unless you know of another.

I really think the Cardinals are getting ready to lose it for the year.  I hope there are no trades as people just aren't performing the way they need to in order to make a run this year.  Hopefully, Mo lets it be known that OT needs to play everyday and Craig needs to platoon with Holliday.  Maybe that will get one of the two to wake up and start producing.

Honestly not sure how OT stays motivated. While his average wasn't great when he was called up, he did hit the ball at least.  That an no one in STL is really producing much at all.

I recall reading on twitter or some prospect chat that a scout who recently saw Taveras said he was playing bored. Which relates to Miller's problem a couple of years back when people were pressing to trade him but it's not obviously not affecting Taveras mechanically.

Re: Minor league thread: Sun 6/29

I can't really see how a scout could make the judgement what bored play looks like and what it doesn't. He used to always play with joy when I saw him. If he was bored I guess it's likely that he wasn't as joyous playing as he was when he was in MLB or even in Quad Cities.

My question about Oscar is this. I wander if the team flat out talks about him not being up due to Super 2 status or if they bullshit him about why he's not playing?

It is probably not the sort of thing management talks directly to the player about.  I am sure Taveras's agent has explained the service time angle to him.  What I wonder is if anybody has explained that he could have made sending him back down extremely awkward or impossible by producing while he was here.  And the fact that he didn't produce is likely at least or more of a factor than service time considerations.

Re: Minor league thread: Sun 6/29

He was regularly taking MUCH better AB's than other players on the team. His AB's were better than Grichuk was has been called up 2 times. His AB's were even better than Craigs. Had he been given time to play everyday he would have put up better numbers than Craig. If someone is taking good AB's and hitting the ball hard theres no much else you can ask for her the balls are just going straight at people.

Anyone with any feedback on Tyrell Jenkins?  He won.  Lots of groundballs.  But 1K/4BB.  How's his arm responding?  Still got the velocity?  Is he becoming Seth Maness II?

Re: Minor league thread: Sun 6/29

Reports were in the low to mid 90s in EST. He's developed a good sinker but probably not anywhere close Maness's minor league control that correlated to some gaudy low walk numbers.

Re: Minor league thread: Sun 6/29

I was at the game last year in Peoria, when I think he turned the corner. I had seen him before overthrowing trying to strike everyone out. This game hew threw a complete game 2 hitter, and worked low in the zone on his sinker and dominated the opposition. He showed a good controlled curveball and great command. He got hurt shortly after. In that game he was a different pitcher than I had seen the year before in Quad Cities.
