This is going to be an interesting game.  The Cardinals are in Kershaw's head. Can St. Louis continue to knock him around?

Shelby Miller has been cleared to make the start. The game will also be on MLB Network, along with Reds-Giants.

Re: 2014 MLB game #84: Cards at Dodgers: Sun 6/29

If the season ended today we'd be in the playoffs.  We need to hit one of those hot streaks and get ourselves into a better position, some breathing room.  The Reds are still handling the Giants, having beat them three straight.  It worries me that we'll catch the Giants this coming week when they finally turn it around.

What are the odds of beating Kershaw today?  We've had his number in the past, maybe he'll give up ten runs or so like he did in Arizona a few weeks ago.  I am calling this one 6-3 Redbirds.

The off day on Monday will help.

I wonder if MM will skip the No. 5 starter slot and come back with Wainwright and then Lynn since Lynn had a total early game meltdown and could probably go on three days rest??

Lynn seemed like he had a blister or nail issue with a finger on his pitching hand.  Anybody heard anything?

Quotes from Lynn about it are in last night's game story. (These go up after every game on the home page and are free.)

After the #5 slot, the batting averages are .209, .143, .192, .185.

Nobody in the lineup is hitting .280 or better.  The only two guys on the team who are hitting .280 or better are sitting because we are facing a lefty.  Replaced by Bourjos and Robinson who are hitting less than .200 against lefties this year.

Peralta is hitting .224 with one homer against lefties.  He's our #3 hitter.

A team that fielded a lineup like that on the last day of the season would be justly criticized for not fielding a competitive team.  The Giants, a game ahead of LA should be pissed, or hoping we field an equally pathetic lineup against them.

It is just a disgrace and an insult to the fans that are so loyal and supportive.  Maybe some guys will have a hot bat today and we could win, but the Cardinals have to field a better team than that.

Why no Adams? He actually has a decent record against Kershaw.

My mind is boggled.

Why play Adams when you can play Robinson?

After seeing Matheny's lineup I am going to change the call.  I am calling this one 4-0 Dodgers.

Who did you have in mind that was going to help them to score 6 runs? I know I know Jay and Adams. Without them they go from 6 to 0. But you added a run to LA....why?

Other than Carp's going the other way for a single it was an uneventful top of the 1st.

One of the announcers said the Dodgers have three 'plus' arms in the outfield.  Do we have any outfielder who is considered a 'plus' arm?

Puig probably has more outfield assists than our whole team.

There's a nice 2 bagger by Yadi.  Followed by a K from Bourjos and another from Robinson.  Niether looked like they know which end of the bat to hold.  Now Ellis.

I like Bourjos probably one of the very few that does BUT you have to be able to move the runner there to third.

Leadoff double, then nothing from the hitless wonders at the bottom of the order.  Couldn't even get the pitcher's slot out of way.

Good luck to the Birds today.

doesn't matter that Robison struck out and Ellis did the Ellis groundball out...Yadi should have been at third...I mean stranded at third not second.
