Baseball Reference has this as the Cardinals' 81st game rather than the 82nd.

And they would be right - last night was game #80; we are now 43-37.  So tonight's game is the halfway point of the season.

It all gets down to your accounting method. This is game number 82 of the schedule. Game number 41, in Chicago on May 14, was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled for August 30. At that time, I will note the game as rescheduled game no. 41.

Re: 2014 MLB game #82: Cards at Dodgers: Fri 6/27

These next six games are critical.  Brewers have Colorado at home and we got the Dodgers and Giants on the road.  If we go 3-3 i will be happy.  That would give us a 5-5 road trip and i'll take that anytime with respect to west coast trips.  If we happen to go 1-5 the next six games that wont be good.

Going to have to watch Barnaby Jones a little earlier tonight since the Cardinals game starts at 10:10 and the Reds start at 10:15.

That Ellis name in there makes me cringe, but I guess it's better than Descalso.....

Its not good when your cleanup hitter is batting, what, .240 or so?

I'm starting to think the only thing that might save the Redbirds this year is Oscar's 2nd go-around.  Hopefully he can hit and energize the club - before its too late.

Another tough one. Dodgers figure to have the advantage on the hill with Ryu over Martinez.

Tough trip, although we're at 2-2 and lost one of those 1-0. Nothing to be ashamed of, although you hate losing when your ace is dominant.

I think you have the wrong guy.  Peralta is batting cleanup tonight, not Craig.

We're in a good spot now with a 3-1 lead going to the ninth.  Maness and Neshek have been very good in relief.  Rosenthal needs to close it without any drama tonight!

Big win. Nice pick on the DP by Adams to end it.

Impressive win and it's a good thing because I can't see us winning tomorrow or Sunday.  If we can win one in SF we'll be 4-6.  Not bad on this trip.

For all the naysayers re: Jon Jay's defense, after watching tonite's game I really see what you mean.

Notice how the game threads are shorter when we win? ;-)

And a month ago, he was hitting about .230. He also leads the team in homers.
