Welcome back Bird watchers!

Welcome back Bird watchers!

Holy Moly! Woke up early this morning to some really good news! Scout is back on line. Thank goodness too. I was forced to find other entertainment and i hated it. Found time to actually pet my Dog( whatever his name is), read a book (Robinson Caruso) for you well read nerds. No offense Jerry and Nate! I even considered taking another look at Cards talk. Thank God it never came to that. Watched the first two ST games and it just wasn't the same w/o being able to come to this site and compare what i saw to what other Cards fans saw. I am READY for some Pug quips, Pads dissection of the numbers, C.C's breakdown of our prospects, Bling, Greys and GScott's "every guys" perspective, Jerry waxing old baseball memories and stories, the "Jager trade proposals", Cw, Jennifer, Cubs girl and Connecticut, RB's off season seasons and even Nate telling us all there is just NO way we can do it this year. There are many, many more wonderful posters here too. I appreciate every single one of you! Like i have always said we ALL have one thing the same that we love. We are all part of the same enjoyable and entertaining club. I am absolutely STOKED to see what this talented roster gives this year. I honestly think this team will be a beast this year, especially in October and beyond.

There was a temporary board that we have all been posting on since Monday.  It was listed right on the main page where all the forums are listed, and it was titled "Temporary Open Forum".  We have all been posting there and all those posts are now moved here.

Sorry you couldn't find it.

Re: Welcome back Bird watchers!

It is too late for you now, CNH, and I bet others struggled, too.

However, here is what CW is talking about. Off the home page of TheCardinalNation.com, on any articles (and this page too, had it been up), immediately to the right of the site logo is the word "FORUMS". If you click on that, it takes you to a menu page of all of our forums. While this one is the most popular of our forums, it is not the only one.

During this outage, two of the forums were down. Others were up and were being used on a temporary basis until the main ones could be restored. There is a thread pinned to the top of the menu of this board that provides more detail on what has transpired during this rough week.

I hope that clarifies things.

(P.S. I use the terms "forums" and "message boards" interchangeably.)

You were probably using a bookmark of the Cardinals forum page.  If you had gone to the main page (which was working) you would have seen all the forums listed and would have seen the temporary forum.

All our posts are now here, so you can see what we have been talking about for the last week.

Re: Welcome back Bird watchers!

I am a little more wily than that CW. A valid point though. I went through the page Brian but saw nothing. I guess i did not look hard enough though. I did find some really pissed off Jayhawk and Gamecock's fans though in Google searches. Boy were those fellas angry! Made me cross my legs just say. Yikes! Is there going to a protocol if this happens again? I had to actually converse with my Dad and he was waxing memories from the 70's. It was disturbing! Plus like i said i had to read "Robinson Caruso" mainly b/c it is the only hard back i own. Again pretty disturbing. I found out my Pit/ Retriever mix doesn't know jack about baseball, if she does she is not telling. Glad to be back!

You go to Scout.com then click on "MLB" at the top, then click on "Teams", then scroll down to St Louis Cardinals and click on "forums".  That takes you to the page with the list of forums.  The Temporary forum is of course gone now.

That is yet another way to get to the forums in addition to the one I described a few posts above. My hope/expectation was that most everyone goes to the TCN home page every day or two to read articles, anyway. If not, shame on you!  ;-)

Seriously, though it is too late to help with this outage, this is good info to file away for future use.

Yes, that too.  (I didn't see your post before I posted mine)

I always read the articles from the links at the top left corner of the message board so I don't navigate from thecardinalnation.com

Just an FYI since you mentioned it. Not all content shows in the links at the upper left. That list includes only the content that originates from TCN. For example, the Associated Press game summaries do not appear on that list.

I have to assume a lot of people didn't find the temporary page because there were not a lot of people posting last week.  With the start of ST games, I would have expected more participants.

Yeah, I don't know how many people post during a typical week, so it is hard to say.

There were between 15-20 people who posted on the temp board, which is more than I expected to see.

Those of us who frequent the blog found it first, because Brian posted there that he had set up the temp forum.

From Wednesday until earlier this morning (when I deleted them), there were two temporary forums listed - one for subscribers and one free forum. The titles were clearly marked "Temporary" and they were listed just ahead of the forums they were replacing.

In other words, for anyone who got to the FORUMS menu page at any time in the last five days, there would have been no way to miss the existence of the temp forums.

What matters most is that you are back (or you would not be reading this). Thank you all for your patience during a rough time.

I can only hope most everyone eventually finds their way back. I am hoping more people join in on the game threads, especially until we are back to full strength.

I can read between the lines, Brian. I've just been busy as all get out at work lately. It shouldn't be too much longer until I'm back in the PBP saddle once again. I just can't figure it out. Usually when one gets themselve into a position of total responsibility in the workplace, it means they in turn can be totally irresponsible. So far it hasn't worked out that way for me....but God be my judge it will.

I have done the PBP on the last two game threads but I will be happy for you to take over.  I know I will be working Thursday and Friday and I will be unavailable for those games.  Wednesday is undetermined, I don't have a job as of yet, but that could change.

So, if you can't do them, someone else will have to.

And that's the fear, Crdswmn. Two games with you at the PBP helm and good old' Pugs might not be welcomed back. I can see them now....booing me, calling me names.....posting signs on the game thread like "Go home Pugs"!....."PBP = PUGS BLOWS PLEASE bring back crdsmn"!!
