I am anxious to watch Cooney and Petrick pitch today.  I have never seen either one of them and they seem to be highly regarded.

Mo was interviewed on fsmw yesterday and basically said in his own hyperbolic round about way that oscar would be better served starting the season in AAA. He also said the benefit of spring training abs is not worth the cost of reinjury. As much as we want to see him i think its going to take an injury...jay playing poorly...or oscar absolutely tearing up aaa.
That being said if oscar does start tearing the cover off the ball
It will be interesting to see what happens to shane robinson if/when....does he have tenure to refuse a minor league assignment? I dont think so. I know hes expressed frustration with getting abs...and is certainly good enough to claim a bench spot on many mlb teams.

Can

He doesn't.

If he was outrighted (taken off the 40 man) he could elect free agency, because he has already been outrighted once before.  I don't see why they would do that though.

Taveras' injury status was also discussed yesterday on the Spring Training Injury thread.

I second that anxiousness.... Petrick especially.  Fingers crossed he wasn't just a one year wonder and is the real deal.  As long as Cooney doesn't regress he will probably be fighting for a rotation spot next year at this time.

for god's sake, Taveras had an ankle injury a loooooong time ago.  Why is he not ready to go?  I'm still hoping he's our right fielder for opening day with Craig at first.  Am I the only one?

You might not be the only one, but I'm not in agreement.  Service time, service time, service time are my top 3 reasons as to why not, there are some people who don't think it matters and the Cardinals don't play by those rules, but I'm all for him spending a month in Memphis.

That green grass and those palm trees are looking pretty nice compared to the ice and drifting snow outside my window.

Rough start for Wacha so far. Men on second and third with one out and Ike Davis up to bat.

Josh Satin walks in an 8 pitch at bat, mostly thanks to some poor umpiring. Wacha had him looking twice.

Wacha finally got out of it in spite of the crappy HPU.

Carpenter doubles and Bourjos moves him over to third.  Holliday doubles and Carpenter scores.

Wacha comes out after getting the first 2 batters out.  Reached his pitch count (thanks to the umpire).

Keith Butler in the game now.  Wacha reached his pitch count because the HP umpire was squeezing him in the 1st.

Good at bats by all 3. Bourjos went to the right side to move the runner. Nice to see execution like that. Holliday really looked locked in, so hopefully that's a good sign that he'll get off to a better start this season.
