In case anyone reading this is already in Florida and wants some autographs after the game on Saturday:

Three prominent members of the defending National League champion St. Louis Cardinals will sign autographs and greet fans at Gander Mountain’s store in Palm Beach Gardens on Saturday, March 1.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny, Cardinals hitting coach John Mabry and Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter are scheduled to appear from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Gander Mountain store located at 100 Gander Way, just off I-95 at the Northlake Blvd. exit. The event is free and open to the public.

Sorry to be short in the earlier response. Was finishing an article for the home page.

Texas almost got Butler through waivers in October, but the Cards claimed him. Since then, with the Cards having added Grichuk and Bourjos and Piscotty having looked so good in the AFL, it is difficult to see where Butler fits in this organization. With no history here, he will need to make an immediate impact this spring.

Two on in the first, but no score. Butler legged out an infield error in the second and was replaced in a fielders choice by Scruggs. The 1B scored on a triple by Grichuk. Impressive swing on a pitch away that went over the CF's head and nice wheels to get to third. Jay has two fly ball outs, the last one up against the RF wall.

I'm not able to watch today, how is Lynn looking?  Randomly just curious, but are you actually at the game?

No, I am not at the game. Lynn looks good so far. Questionable strike calling by Angel Hernandez or it would even be better. 28 pitches thru 2nd. 1 hit, 1 K. Should get to pitch another inning.

Why does that guy still have a job?  Everyone knows how terrible he is, even the media makes fun of him.

That pitch he called a ball was right down the middle.  It couldn't have been anything other than a strike.

Tenure. If my memory serves me correctly, that pitch was with two strikes and two outs. Good sign that Lynn did not show anger.

Things I've learned so far on the broadcast today:

You never embarrass yourself if you hustle.
Peralta may have taken a nutritional supplement which resulted in his suspension.
Descalso might be the premier middle infield reserve in MLB.

They keep Angel Hernandez because of tenure and yet MLB doesn't understand why folks complain about the umpires.  Credibility is not a concern apparently.

Lynn finished his day at two innings, after all. Angel Castro making his Cards debut. Heavy build, big kick with right foot and falls toward first in his delivery.

Re: Spring training game #2 - Cards at Marlins - Sat 3/1

Castro got into trouble in his second inning, the fourth. Stanton double, walk, wild pitch, Saltalamacchia RBI single to tie the game. 2nd Miami run on ground rule double by Ozuna over Grichuk's head in RF. Dobbs sac fly to CF brought in run #3. 4th run scored on Jeff Mathis double into RF corner. Castro done with two outs. Sam Gaviglio in to get final out of 4th. Fish up 4-1.

Only good thing was the long inning kept Mo in the booth and on air longer.

Two in scoring position in T5th, but Luis Mateo and Descalso can't get them home.

Marlins strand two against Gaviglio in B5th. Ball moves well from high release to finish down in the zone.
