Re: Musial family looking for Texas poet

Hope they find this unknown poet....hmmm...anyone remember the unknown comic? I think we spoke briefly of him last off season. Honestly, was there ever a living soul on this planet funnier than The Unknown Comic? Anyway those were special words about Stan and every effort possible should go into finding this person. I guess the $64k question would be "What are they going to do once they do find her or him? I have a hunch that we are looking at a female poet here. I guess the only clue we have is that they are from the great State of Texas. Who do we here know from Texas? CardinalNationHouston....LarryHouston....AustinCar dinal.....take your pick as all 3 are more than capable.

Was the unknown comic the guy on The Gong Show that wore the paperbag over his head?

Correct. Fellow named Murray Langston, who had previously been a member of the troupe on the old Sonny & Cher show.

Re: Musial family looking for Texas poet

Do you think by chance that the Musial family is barking up the wrong tree by looking only in Texas for this unknown poet? I'll preface this by clarifying my love for the great State of Texas. I've spent 2 weeks in Houston, a seven day stint in San Antonio and have probably raced thru Amarillo via automobile a good 20 times or so in route out west. Good times one and all. But when it comes to harboring great poets or pianists, Texas just might be one of the last regions where you'd think one would reside. I would think the Musials would have much better luck in their search for this poet in hiding by extending their search to exotic locations better suited for this fine artsy type of individual. Like coastal California, the red mountains of Sedona, Arizona or maybe Greenwich Village in NYC. I bet he/she is in one of those 3 locations.

* Amazingly I have never been to Dallas. I have always wanted to visit the 5th floor of the old Texas School Book Depository. Anybody been there?

I've been to Dealy (sp?) Plaza and the former Texas School Book Depositoty building. I did not go to the 5th floor because they charge you to do that, and it did not seem worth it just to stare at the window where Oswald was camped out, as you could obviously look up at it from the outside for free. It's a museum and guided tour type of thing these days.

The street has an "X" on it to show where the car was when the first shot hit.

Watched one of the many shows that we'll be seeing over the next week or so about that fateful day. Man, what a tough thing. Despite all of Kennedy's dalliances and covered up affairs, that was one tragic event that deeply shook the nation.
