Was thinking the series started on Saturday so it can't be Wacha.

Gotta be Miller, especially at home.

I hope so, he deserves it.  Hopefully it goes Miller, Wacha, Wainwright as those are the three I'm comfortable seeing twice in a series.  I'm indifferent between Lynn and Kelly starting game 4.  I think Lynn has more upside but is volatile while Kelly is consistent and will keep his composure on the road.  That's why Matheny gets paid the big bucks.

Oh boy! I am still smarting from the last L.A playoff loss. Waino and Holli must want these guys BAD! Dodgers do have Skip in center field right now and also Nick Punto. I doubt it will be enough as St.louis rides a Tidal wave of emotion and the non existent Momentum to a big win. My brain tells me this will be a seven game classic for the ages but the Pisces in me is saying Cards in 5 games. They are getting to the point now where they don't have to have Holli, Beltran, Molina or even Matt Carpenter hitting and they can still put up 6 on most nights. This team has guys like Freese, Jay, D-day and even Kozma that are far more valuable than their season numbers and metrics. I have thought for years now that St.louis is a great example of a team that would never win it all on paper but in real life are a serious threat. I think if Cards get ahead in this series it could be over fast.

GO CARDS!

feels weird to think that a split at home would mean we are ahead of the game...

If it is, in fact, Miller and Wacha in Games 1 and 2, it would undoubtedly the first time a team has started *two* rookies to start a postseason series. Rare enough that even *one* rookie leads off, a la Joe Magrane in the 1987 WS.

My fear, of course, is that MM will prefer to go with a more experienced hand in Game 1, and that means Kelly or Lynn. I could live with the former, as my signed photo is still doing its job, but not the latter. The argument in favor of Lynn, besides his experience, is that he pitched six scoreless innings in his one start against the Dodgers in LA. Thing was, that was a very different Dodgers team... no Puig, no Hanley Ramirez, and almost no Mattingly.

Yeah, that's a good set up but flip Waino and Wacha.

Lynn is a tough one to pencil in as he was solid down the stretch and you would like to have him available, but you're gunshy in using him after game 2.

I guess if we're up say 3 games to 1 you could throw him out there in game five. But if Miller is dominant in game 1 you probably come back with him.

I'll play Peanut again here.....

No way can the lucky Cardinals beat the powerful Dodgers.  L.A. in 5 games.  They are just too good.

We could go with a six man rotation. Kelly, Wacha, Wainwright, Miller, Lynn, Martinez, Wainwright. Martinez wouldn't go deep due to lack of recent conditioning as a starter, but Wacha would be able to piggyback on 5 days rest.

Not saying we will, of course, just that we could, and be happy with our chances.

I have Kelly leading the parade because Kieth Olberman thinks he will go in game one. Word.

Poll question.

Will the cameras catch Schmalbert in attendance?

Good question. Does he still have a house in the St. Louis area? I'm sure he's still close to Yadi and some others on the team. Maybe he'll go to all the games.

On another note, Skippy and Big Mac are coming back to St. Louis wearing Dodger blue.

Are you sure it's not his politics rather than his baseball acumen that has you on overload?  We tend to bring our biases into any analysis.

I understand and accept not liking his politics (I'm a liberal Democrat and he annoys me sometimes) but the dude knows his baseball.
