Now that we know the situation, and for the sake of discussion, would anybody now go with Wainwright in Game 4? Argument could be to go with the veteran on the road, because we saw a couple of our rookie hurlers lose command in the hostile environment. Then you could go with Miller or Wacha at home if applicable. I don't recall if Wainwright has ever started on 3 days rest before and he threw 105 pitches last outing. A good manager has to consider all the options, if merely just to dismiss them.

For the record, I don't think I would do it. Per my not so reliable memory, it seems it doesn't work more often than it does, Mickey Lolich and Jack Morris notwithstanding.

No.  I think we can beat Charlie Morton and I would save Waino to matchup with Cole.

Peanut, any tiny credibility u might have had, is gone. You are either a troll/ pirates fan or you are a chicken little. Neither has any value to the forum other than keeping you from bothering others elsewhere.

I don't go with Wainwright either. I stick to the plan and throw Wacha, and take my chances.

We need to score some runs. We could have won today with a little more timely hitting. The Bucs got the late hits when they needed it, and we did not.

Carpenter picked a bad time to go into a slump.  He needs to snap out of it quick.

This may sound like sour grapes, but we hit a lot of line drives in this game that went straight at a fielder.  Liriano wasn't fooling anybody.  But that's baseball; sometimes that's what happens.

Cards are NOT hitting....

Carpenter is NOT hitting......Matt Carpenter gets on base twice, Cards will win today..

Wacha should be ok enough to win, but again the cards are NOT hitting

As I mentioned on the game thread yesterday, Carpenter was off for some reason. Maybe Liriano had him duped somehow, or intimidated. He swung at a terrible pitch for strike three his first AB.

Then later, with two on the runners moving, a time where you normally swing at most anything even close to the plate, he watched a strike three that was almost right down the middle of the plate and belt high.

Kelly struggled with his command in that first inning, and it cost us. Otherwise he was pretty good. If Wacha can pitch the same game and be in control from the start, I think we'll score enough to win today.

That is similar to what happens a lot with Kelly.  He allows a lot of baserunners but seems to get out of the game without a lot of damage.
