Seems like Kelly gives up a lot of contact, but manages to still win.  Can he keep the Rockies in the park tonight?

As far as i am concerned this is almost a MUST win tonight.  Wainwright's curveball wont be effective in Colorado and the Rockies will be sitting on his fastball and cutter.  We will probably lose his start 8-3, or something like that.

C'mon Joe!

Yeah, Wainwright's curve ball never works in Coors Field.  That is why he has a 1.08 ERA there.  eek1

Wainy's success at Coors probably is due to factors other than his curve ball.  I wouldn't expect the usual break, either in sharpness or amount of verticle break.  The chance of hangers that hardly break at all should be greater also.

It will be something interesting to watch.  Maybe he will defy the laws of physics.  In any event, I'm more concerned about whether our O will show up.

McHugh's curve ball worked just fine last night.  I have seen Wainwright throw his curve ball at Coors Field before without any difficulty.

The Cards couldn't hit off a tee last night.

I hope you are right about Wainy's curve ball tonight.

Yep, the Cards couldn't hit, including that big looping curve ball that McHugh threw all night.  In fact, it was his best pitch.

As I stated yesterday, Rat is doing this on purpose.

Joke's over, Rat.  We all get it.  Please stop.  We have a pennant to win and don't have time for superstitious nonsense.

Well people, it didn't happen last night. I think McHugh (McWho?) was a bit tough to adjust too because he's so slow. He relied a lot on a slow curve ball, and would occasionally spot his 90 MPH fast ball.

Early in the game we were hitting shots all over the place, but as Hawk Harrelson might say, "they gotta man there". Lots of "at 'em" balls. I kept thinking the odds were some of these shots will find gaps, but it never happened.

Lynn looked very good, and I thought Matheny was too quick with the hook as he was under a hundred pitches I believe when he was taken out. Siegrist didn't get it done.

Rosenthal - ugh! Tie game in the eighth and he comes in and promptly walks the lead off hitter. That's a good start towards giving the game away, which is of course what happened.

Despite the box score, we had some great looks and good ABs. I expect we'll score some runs this evening. Hopefully more than the Rox.

Perfect night for a game last night by the way. Right around 70 degrees early on, low 60s later. No wind. Perfect weather, and a quite enthusiastic crowd despite the Rockies record. Lots of Cards fans too, but the Rockies have a good, loyal following.

Superstitious nonsense???

I knew that 12 games in 13 days in 5 cities in September would spell disaster for the 1983 Cardinals - and it did.

I knew those 5 games in 4 days in 1 city (Chicago) would spell disaster for the 2003 Cardinals - and it did.  With Jeff Fassero's help, of course.

I just hope those 4 games in 4 days in 1 city (Denver) dont spell disaster for the 2013 Cardinals.

You do this every year and you're bound to get it right a few times over 30 years!!

You do this over every road trip or series of games and it's just incredibly annoying.

You can say whatever you want in the years we didn't make the playoffs.  What I want to know is what you were saying in 2004, 2007, 2011, 1982, 1985 and 1987?

Okay, I'll bite.  What does going after Matt Garza have to do with San Diego winning in Pittsburgh?
