I really believe this is a MUST win today.  We cant afford to keep losing to Pittsburgh, especially with a four game series in Cincinnati looming.  We survived losing 4 of 5 last time to the Pirates, not sure we can recover this time if we do indeed get swept.

However, I am predicting an 8-1 Pirates victory today as Kelly blows himself out.

I doubt the issue is going to be Joe Kelly.  The issue is that the offense is facing a left handed rookie pitcher, a kryptonite double whammy.

7-0 Redbirds in the bottom of the 6th now.  Kelly only two hits allowed so far.

Need to be sure and hang on and win this one.  Could be a momentum boost heading to Cincinnati for that four game series.

Same MO as last series....not our Mo in the front office....not the State Mo as in Missouri......not even the 3 Stooges Mo (or is that Moe?)...same modus operandi as last series where we get it handed to us in Pittsburgh in all games except the last, where our Birds kick the daylights out of them. I'd rather do it Pittsburgh's way.

I know it's ML pitching, but with 99 hacks at the ball, I find it almost impossible for anyone under 35 and reasonably able, to come up dry on 33 abs.

Looking forward a little bit but I think Kelly needs to come into Spring Training assuming he has a rotation spot unlike this year and Lynn should be the one fighting Garcia and Wacha and Rosenthal for the 5th spot.

I'm waiting for the comment about how Kelly's peripherals are bad, he doesn't strike out enough batters, so-so game scores and he's not as good as his record.

I don't know Lynn just doesn't seem like he has it mentally right now. He was great and strong headed in 2011 out of the pen but now he just falls apart at the slightest adversity.  He's gained all his weight back/which I don't really fault him on as it's hard to play professional sports on a low-carb diet.  It just doesn't seem like he's fit for this rotation at this point.  How many times does Matheny have to go public about his body language and composure on the mound before he gets it?
