Reds have had troubles with lefties.  Let's hope Lyons can keep that going.

That is the main reason the Cards are going with Lyons instead of, say, Martinez.

The Cards starting pitching was pretty good vs Atlanta. I like our chances for a sweep vs Reds with Lyons, Mighty Joe and Wainwright.

We should see DD and Wong vs Leake tonight if the platoons hold up. Wouldn't mind seeing Adams as well. I'd really like to see Wong take some better ABs. He's been generally unimpressive in the batter's box from what I've seen. Lack of patience, poor strike zone discipline. He's putting the ball in play, but he's swinging at the pitcher's pitch. Needs to work the count, wait for something hittable.

I am wondering if MM will try to take it easy on Rosie and Chief. A couple Cards blowouts seems in order.

In general I like what I see from Wong. He attacks the ball and his speed is nice. But he needs some experience.  As much as anything Matheny is giving him a heads start on 2014.

These next 17 games are the whole season i think. In what has been a good 3 team race this year will now come to a head with these match ups. Cards will be in good shape with a win in this one as they have their two best starters (Kelly and Waino) going in the next two matches. Here's to beating Mike Leake like he stole something! excitedexcitedexcited

GO CARDS!

The Reds lineup has been up for a while but Mike is dragging his feet.

And so fades DMENS' hope at a fantasy baseball championship. Ugh. If Harvey ends up shutting it down for the year, it is worth noting that only the Reds have games remaining against the Mets.

It certainly wasn't his 7.66 ERA and 0-4 record over his last 5 starts that inspired the Cardinals to go with Lyons. Hopefully Tyler can in fact continue the Reds' woes and build on his last appearance in Milwaukee with a strong start tonight.

I like having switch hitting Beltran off the bench. Wish Wong was playing rather than Freese. Also, I am not in love with two lefties at the top. But maybe when Carp gets on, Jay can pull it through the hole.

There's plenty of upper deck and bleachers on stubhub for $6-7 if anybody is thinking of going.

Nobody will sweep this series.  One team will win 2 of 3.

Freese is 7 for 13 against Leake.

That explains about every bit of it.
