We made Nolasco look like Cy Young earlier when he was a Fish. We'll have to see how the Dodgers $11 Million a year guy stacks up against our minimum wage guy tonight. In the past we've hit him pretty good. Should do better vs a righty anyway. The three guys to get a hit off him last time were DD, Jay and Freese. Adams was 0-3 with a K.

I don't get what's to worry about with Westbrook. He's a .500 pitcher who gives you 5-7 innings and 3.5 to 4.5 ERA. That's what he's been in the past and is now. I can't see any reason to 'worry' that he won't continue to perform as expected. The fact that his output is so predictable is likely why Mo re-signed him, having enough worries with all the young pitchers.

^ I think the worry with Westbrook is his variance in performance. Overall, he's 4.7 in ERA the last 10 games, but that's not what you get on a given day. You either get the 2 ERA guy or the 8 ERA guy. Hopefully he'll level that out the rest of the way.

I think the westy signing was a great one, Im just saying hes getting older and his entire outing relies on him spotting his sinker, and the zone the ump decides to define that night. It hes not getting that strike, its going to be a bad outing.

I guess it is reasonable to worry because Westbrook is a year older than last year. The other things are nothing new. I worry more that Lance will run out of gas again, except later, so there is no opportunity to rest him in the pen for a while like last year. Also about how Shelby will hold up, and respond to late season/post season pressure. I worry how a guy whose arm was left to rot sitting on the bullpen bench now being able to start every 5th day. And, to be honest, I worry some about going into post season relying on an Ace who only has 3 or 4 post season starts under his belt. All those I consider more worrisome than whether Westbrook will continue to be Westbrook.

He had a pretty healthy dose of post-season pressure his ROOKIE year, when he was the closer for us, don't you think?

No, Adams is starting in place of Craig.

Adam's rookie performance as WS closer was one of the most special things I have ever experienced in 50 years as a fan.

The fact that I am more worried about him being the go to guy in post than I am about Westbrook being Westbrook illustrates how little I am worried about Westbrook.

Might have been a late decision from Matheny. Craig is fine and it isn't a matchup decision. Mike just wanted to give Craig some rest.

... or it illustrates the twisted version of reality that you subscribe to. But, there's another thread for that. Shelby Miller is pitching tonight yall, not Adam Wainwright or Jake Westbrook.

Pre-game banter gets a little lively sometimes.

(Maybe FSM should hire a bunch of us for the pre-game booth)

Looks like Matheny has granted my wish:  Descalso the everyday SS, at least against right handers.  Good move.  Kozma against lefties might also be a good move.  I think what we've got here now is a platoon system in place, which makes sense.
