RE: 2013 MLB game 108 thread: Cards at Reds, Fri 8/2

Bronson Arroyo, always such a familiar face. He's 0-3 with a 4.13 ERA in his last four starts against the Cardinals and at least 5 guys have some clear success against him.

Adams is 1 for 1 with a 2R-HR against Bronson.
Beltran is 11 for 32 with 5 XBH, including 2 HR 6 RBI and 3 BB. [.344/.400/.656/1.056]
Jay (who is playing well right now) is 13 for 32 with 4 XBH, including a HR, 3 RBI, and a BB. [.406/.424/.625/1.049]
Holliday is 16 for 51 with 8 XBH, including 4 HR, 10 RBI, and 5 BB. [.314/.386/.627/1.013]
Descalso is 9 for 25 with 4 XBH and 4 RBI. [.360/.360/.560/.920]

On the flip side, Kozma, Craig, Freese and Carpenter are a combined 4 for 48 with just 1 BB against Bronson.

Maybe tonight is the night that some of you finally get your wish of Carpenter at third and Descalso at second. I don't think it will happen, especially since DD is 2 for his last 21 and Freese might be heating up again (reaching base in 4 of his last 8 ABs) but at least there's an argument for it this time.

Nothing would restore confidence to the fans like a good Cincinnasty beatdown! Hopefully Shelby comes ready to pitch like Kelly did last night.

Despite the results Beltran was seeing the ball better in the Pitt series and was hitting the ball a lot harder than was in the Philly. I expect a big series for him against the division rival.

This is a huge series against my arch enemy for sure. A Cincy beatdown would have to advance what must already be creeping doubts in the Reds minds as to how good they really are. I would say the pitching match up is a push tonight so it will be up to the offense IMO. They have been swinging a lot better the last two nights so i am calling this one 6-4 Good guys! excitedexcitedexcited

Edit: for spelling

GO CARDS!

Just as I said earlier Beltran will have a terrific series. Spraying the ball in the gaps with beautiful nature coming from his swing.

22 runs in 13 innings without a homer. That's something. Any guesses who's the next Card to hit one?

Shelby walks votto to start the 4th, but then k's phillips (#8) then gets bruce to hit into a 3-6-3- dp.  great pick by craig to start it.

now this looks like the best team in baseball that I know and love, woo-hoo!!!

oh and bling, the way beltran is swinging the bat, I believe he will end the hr drought.
