Surely we won't get swept in a 5 game series, when's the last time that happened?

I have two hopes for tonight. First that we don't K 11 times, and second, if somebody hits one off the wall he actually runs so as to get more than a single. Those seem like modest hopes, very do-able.

My two hopes for tonight are that if we lose the 5th game, fans DON'T behave like spoiled rotten 4 year olds or crazed lunatics.

I have faint hope of either.

Last night it was so ridiculous and embarrassing on Twitter that I had to leave.

Focus on the team instead of the fans.

I do focus on the team, too bad the fans focus on their own needs instead.

Although we had a lot of terrible looking ABs and no power, at least some balls were finding holes and falling in. 11 singles and one double last night, I believe. Well, 10 singles, 1 double, and 1 double that went for a single because big stars don't have to hustle even when we're trying to pull out of a losing streak.

The improving luck is a start. Hopefully things will keep moving in the right direction tonight.

I'd like to see an outfield of Chambers, Robinson and Craig. Adams, dd, Koz and Carp on the infield. Catcher doesn't matter. MM should just go with that for a while. That would give us 3 RH bats, a lefty and a switch hitter off the bench.

Never happen.

Yeah cause you don't sit your hot bats who are ALOT better hitters on the bench....

Robinson went on the DL so that Chambers could come up.

Guess we'll have to go with weak-hitting Matt Holliday in left tonight, whose just 8 for his last 18 (.444 BA)

Further,

Descalso for the month of July:

.218/.271/.291/.562

Freese for the month of July:

.224/.305/.282/.588

Not sure why Descalso is the better choice there.

More like punish the "losers" who don't meet my expectations.  Because that solves everything.

And somebody's grass is always greener, even when it's astro turf and I can't tell the difference.

Allen Craig is 7 for 12 with 2 walks (.583/.667/.750/1.417) against Charlie Morton. Maybe today he breaks out from his 1 for 27 slump. Or his 22 game HR-less streak.

I am aware that some people prefer to do what we have been doing and expect a different result. There is treatment for that.

Yeah, because the team has the second best record in the NL because they all need a shrink and some pharmacological help.

Maybe it's the seven game bridge jumpers that can use a visit with Dr. Phil.

RE: 2013 MLB game 107 thread: Cards at Bucs, Thu 8/1

This team just needs to weather this storm. They've hit a wall, which can happen at this point of the season. It's a long year. Every team deals with slumps and that's what the Cardinals are in right now. They just need to make a couple adjustments, get a couple bats going again and reset.

For me, I think this is where Matheny needs to show some mettle. He's going to need to make a couple adjustments and tinker with the lineup and bullpen a little bit. I'm not saying he needs to do something crazy or longstanding, he just needs to look for a spark. There were a lot of things about LaRussa that use to bug me, but this was not one of them. The man had a way of figuring out an advantage to find a spark. He was also very skilled at finding time to rest his horses for the stretch run.

Agree with the comment about TLR.

If he were plopped down in the saddle right now, I'd like our chances better.  Hopefully, Mike rides it out.
