The club has announced a change with Lynn starting game 1 instead. The Bucs are starting A.J. Burnett (4-7, 2.96) against Lynn, with TBA down for game 2.

And I just posted a blog post a few hours ago, with the matchup the other way around.  Dang.

Any roster moves today? Salad should be out-righted to Guadaloupe of the Mexican semi-pro league.

I'm sure somebody caught a flight to Pittsburg to be the 26th man. Its a secret I guess. Maybe double-secret. The way I see it, if 3 catchers is good, 4 would be better. Go Birds!

Does Yadi catch both games? Tony Cruz is now 6 for 17 with 2 BB and 2 HBP this month, by the way. That's a .450 OBP.

We need a split.  Most DHs are split.  This DH couldnt have come at a better time.

However, if we dont earn a split, that aint good......

But if we take both games that would be good. Right?

A lot of times it seems like its two different teams out there for the two games of a DH. A team will get 13 hits and 7 runs, and not be able to hit their way out of a paper bag the other game.

What will really infuriate me is if somebody is on fire the first game and gets sat the second game. It would not surprise me the least bit if it happens.

I hope Mo makes a move by tomorrow. This team needs some energy and a boost. Over the years, it seems that the franchise has made some very positive acquisitions at the trading deadline that have boosted them for the grind that is the Dog Days of Summer. Doesn't have to be a blockbuster. I'll take a veteran bat. Where is Will Clark when you need him most?

I've always assumed this to be the case, but on the radio broadcast last night Al Hrabosky, filling on for Mike Shannon who as they always say in radio was "on assignment", but we all know he doesn't make all the road trips these days, said that more double-headers are swept than split.

There must be research on this somewhere, so if anyone has that available please share.

Don't know about that, but the last time every MLB team played a DH on the same date was Sept. 1, 1958.

There were 4 splits and 4 sweeps, with Cards and Reds splitting in St. Louis. In the first game, Vinegar Bend Mizell pitched a 4 hit shutout and Wally Moon drove in Ken Boyer for game's only run. The Reds beat up 5 Card pitchers for a 9-3 win in the second game which Musial sat out.

Just did now. Blazek and Butler up for Scrablle and Salas. Needed fresh arms.
