Volquez is another pitcher rumored to be on the trading block. Any interest?

His ERA is close to 6 and that in pitching in Petco Park a big-time pitchers park still even though the fences were just moved in. Doubt it but by looking back at his FIP he's been incredibly unlucky.

Maybe a change of scenery would do him good; OTOH, I seem to recall he can be a bit of a headcase as well, and is more easily shaken up on the mound than Jaime Garcia.

Also, a PED user, caught the year after his 17-6 season.

Coming out of the break last year, Lynn had two really good starts before hitting a rough spot. 1st start was one run over seven innings with 10Ks and no walks at Milwaukee.

A change of scenery is what he was supposed to have needed when he left Cincy. His has great stuff so I'm not putting this one in the win column. Remember Edwin Jackson?

Reds with the early 4-0 lead on the Pirates after the first.  Pirates have cut into the lead and nows its 4-2 Cincinnati in the 3rd.  I was expecting the Reds to win 2 of 3 in this series before it started.

Lynn is some sort of bad today. Is Kelly available?

Kelly was warming up. Typical Lynn pitching post June 15th or thereabouts. Do you think the Phillies would take Lynn, Salad and a good prospect for Cliff Lee?

Philly has said they'll not deal yet but I've got a feeling they'll try to be late sellers.

It would honestly depend on how much of the contract we'd be willing to take on. My guess is it wouldn't be enough unless we'd give up a top prospect and a guy a couple years away. Then throw the sweetner of Salas and Lynn on top.biggrin

Re: 2013 MLB game 95 thread: Padres at Cards Sat 7/20

Thanks to some shoddy Cincinnati defense and a throwing error on a pickoff by Arnold Chapman the Pirates had 1st and 3rd, nobody out in the top of the 9th, trailing 5-4.

A popout to Phillips and two strikeouts later the Pirates lose again 5-4.

A few of those pitches were strikes per K zone through the strike zone just shrunk all of a sudden.
