Westbrook is 4-0 with a 2.35 ERA in his last six starts against the Cubs. Jackson is 0-2 with a 16.20 ERA in his last two against the Cardinals.

Notable matchups include: Yadi is 9/15 with 3 HR and 2 BB against Jackson. Holliday is 6/22 with 1 HR and 1 BB. Rizzo is 4/8 against Westbrook. The red hot Soriano is just 3/33 and Starlin Castro is 7/28.

The Cubs are 11-7 since we played them last. Over that span, Soriano has hit 22 for 65 (.338/.353/.831/1.184) with 8 HR, 17 RBI, and 17 XBH. They've also had some quality pitching.

Cardinals have hammered Jackson post-tenure in 2011 with the Cardinals.

Jackson does have the ability to be unhittable now and then. Our hitters had a lot of sick looking at bats last night. That is a scary combination. Westbrook can also be hot and cold, so it should make for an interesting game. How it will go might become apparent early.

The Pirates have 3 games and we have 4 before the break. It would be great to pick up, say, a game and a half, and be 3 up at the break. 4 up would be better.

(I'm glad only Friday is a day game that I will miss due to working all weekend, and the night games don't start at 9pm like the west coast games.)

Ouch. One out, one run for Cubs already.

Cubs add two more in home third.

Thank goodness for the five wins at home. You knew there'd be a game where we stunk from start to finish and this looks like it.

P.S.  Mo get on the horn and get a starter-a good one.  Westbrook is not an answer.  If he and Kelly are in the rotation through September, then the Cardinal players will be watching the Pirates and Reds in the playoffs on television.

Holliday looked like a DL case hobbling back to the dugout.

Chambers has a seven-game hitting streak, batting .500 (11-for-22), including 2-for-2 with a double so far tonight.

Nate already went on record this spring that the Cards will not make the post-season. Believe it or not, his current position appears to be a softening of his earlier stance.

Not saying that Westbrook is great but tonight is an ok effort so far. He has kept us in the game.

The plate approach has been horrific. That last K by Beltran was never in the strike zone.

I'd take a split at this point. Cubs are playing good ball right now and Wrigley hasn't been a home away from home for us recently.

Truth according to you. But anyway it doesn't hurt. It is a game. I watch the games because I love baseball. Westbrook has done an ok job. The offense has been putrid. It happens but that's why they play the game. You think the reds and pirates don't have bad days also.
