A day off for Carpenter and a lineup that sort of looks like last September.

Lineup: Jay, Beltran, Holliday, Craig 3, Molina, Freese, Descalso, Kozma, Lynn.

Not to jinx this thing, but I think it pretty safe to say that Sir Lancelot Lynn will be 9-1 by night's end.

I hear you, CNH. I feel the same way in that counting your chickens before they hatch usually results in a big letdown. However I feel safe on this one. It's the Marlins! We just lost to them last night so there's no way they beat us today...not at this time and under these circumstances. This one is in the bag....no way in heck our Redbirds lose this game.

Beltran homers to make it 6-4 Cards but Stanton hits a two-run homer to tie it up.

In the 2nd.

Are we sure we couldn't use Cliff Lee?

Anyone up for a friendly game of homerun derby? This game is a slugfest. Lynn better get his act together.

RE: 2013 MLB game 68 thread: Cards at Marlins: Sat 6/15

Both last night and today my broadcast has had the Marlins announcers - some interesting factoids shared:

1. the 5 run first was the 11th time this year the cards have scored 5 or more runs in an inning. Last night's game was only the 17th time the whole season the Marlins had scored 5 or more runs in a game.

2. Their twitter poll - do the Cards deserve all the credit they are getting as a good team this season - 80% Marlins fans say yes - 20% say the cards are getting to much credit to much hype

3. Lynn had only give up 4 runs once all year - gives up 4 in the first.

4. Both the Marlins and Cardinals have had 14 rookies make appearance this year

5. The marlins announcers are very complimentary of the cards. - To bad the performance on the field has been such a clunker the last 24 hours.

If the Cards just played winning teams and the Cubs just played non-NLC teams, both would be in pretty decent shape.

Lynn should be removed for a left-hander in the 5th; but Matheny won't do it.

Of course, I would pinch hit Adams for Lynn in the 5th, so we're going to have a 1 -run game either way ;)

Lynn just doesn't have it today

We got away with one. You think Lynn comes out for the 6th to see Stanton? Kelly? Yes. Maness? Please, no.

Cardinals are having a hard time in the month of June and it won't get easier with Rangers and Athletics. Keep winning but I think we need to find some bullpen help. How many pitchers in the bullpen besides Mujica do you trust? For me Rosenthal and Choate.

Maness kept Stanton in the ballpark and got his double play ball. And one more out besides. I was too pessimistic.

I like Maness, but he can/will get hit.

Does he get another inning? He had his usual six-pitch inning, plus a little.

2nd and 3rd - Kozma strands them Adams down 0-2 - really need to score here

Adams seeing a lot of lower breaking balls lately - and he Ks

Jay grounds out - hope this 1/2 inning does not come back to haunt the cards.

Choate gets it done in the 7th - Craig helps get another run with RBI hit in 8th.

The box score looks like Lynn was pretty bad. But he's 9-1.

Good thing Robinson was in RF on that final out.

Did Wiggy get any action in left?
