Re: 2013 MLB game 61 thread: Cards at Reds: Fri 6/7

With a win tonight against Arizona we are guaranteed to leave Cincinnati with no worse than a first place tie if the Reds sweep the three games.  If we would happen to sweep the Reds we would leave Riverfront with a six game lead over the Redlegs.

However, I am not expecting a sweep by either team in this series.  Hoping Wainwright can pitch a gem.  It would help if he doesn't give up a lot of hits.  In this stadium anything can happen - and in a hurry.

The exact odds of this series not concluding with a sweep by one of the two teams is 82%, if you're looking for odds, Grays. So in all likelihood we are looking at a one game swing in the standings come late Sunday. Now these calculations factored in more than simply the statistical odds of how a given team would fare in this particular series. If anybody out there thinks that some of Bill James' formulas are boring, then you should feast your eyes on the one I concocted for the above possible W-L scenario for this series.

Treating Rat to some "Dopplar Radar" would surely make his day, Grays....hmmm, "make Rat's day"....Rat does remind you of Clint Eastwood a little bit, doesn't he?

Uh, that's "Great American" Rats. They shut down Riverfront years ago.

May have been. Crosley Field was named after Powell Crosley,, the fellow who bought the team from Sidney Weil,
Who lost the team during the Depression, so the other name could have been in use prior to that time.

Great line, Pugs! Maybe Rats will get to using the "Great American" a few years after the Reds are playing in their new park, "Space Agency Diamonds", which includes parking for personal jet packs, and each seat back has new super-high definition replay monitors built in so patrons can rewind and view any play in the comfort of their seat at the "Diamond".

Have to get him under contract first, Doug......then he's all ours! Unless he has some real kicked-back agent from like Carlsbad, New Mexico who doesn't give a hoot. Anybody up to joining me in the PBP booth tonight? Doug? Ducky? Bling? That workaholic, Mr.Perkins? Anyone with even a half decent voice?

Whoever is working the game, I just want to hear a couple of "get yourself a cold, frosty one!" quotes worked in to the broadcast.

And Jason Grilli breaks off a filthy slider that Barney swings at but misses. We get no help from the Cubs today. Pit 2 Chi 0 Final.

That may not be farfetched at all, BicycleMike. In the whole scheme of things, baseball has not changed all that much over the past 100 years. This will not be the case over this next century to come. Time is a winding down and I need a partner in the booth....anybody?

Top of 1     Leake center-stage for Cincy

MCarp- Grounds out hard 3-1(Votto to Leake to the layman).

Beltran- Lines one to left....Paul lopes back a few strides to haul it in about 2 feet shy of the track

Holliday- Line shot bast hit to left and Leake is fooling nobody so far as all 3 hitters have put solid wood on the ball.

Craig- Strikes out swinging to retire the side.

Cards 0     Reds 0
