Just checked the forecast, doesn't look real good.  Will these games be played today?  San Francisco doesn't make any more trips into St. Louis this year, correct?

There is some bad weather to the SSW that looks like its mostly going to miss stl...but we could get the edge of the storm. Its misting here now...havent been to busch this week but im wondering how the field looks.

Not that he was hitting well anyway...but pablo sandoval will miss this series with a left foot strain.

Im sure pablo sandovals feet havent been huge pablo sandoval fans for quite some time now...

Will Matheny bring back one of these pitchers on 3 days rest Wednesday or are we going to need another starter?

I'm going to Game 2 with my family. If the first game gets delayed how does this guy? They just call it and then play Game 2 when it should be dry?

Spot starter, presumably. But who? Kelly? Cleto (who's already on the 40-man)? Castillo (who pitched last night)?

Could be a bullpen game if they are not taxed between now and then.

Lineup added to first post.

Since they are watching Shelby's innings, I would imagine they would skip Shelby next week and stay on the same rotation.  Wednesday would be a BP start or not a regular rotation guy.

No TV for me today because of MLB foolish black out rules that allow the Giants to claim Las Vegas as local market but then they do not have TV or Radio deals in the market. I get in when the LA teams claim the market because they want me to have to watch/listen to the game on their "deal" networks. Have no understanding of the value to the Giants to not allow me to see them.

Rant over - anyway following game tracker looks like Shelby is effective but again using a lot of pitches to get the job done. Over 50 to get thru 3 innings, when he really has not been in any trouble.

Looks like the Cards have hung a 4 spot on Cain in the third. RBi hits by Carpenter, Jay, Craig and now Adams.

GO CARDS!

I was wondering why Cox has us getting Yankees/Red Sox.

Jerry my rant was about black out on my mlb extra inning package- but you bring up another point, usually we will get the west regional game for the weekly Fox broadcast, but yes I see we get Yankees/red sox tonight.

As far as the game this afternoon, following on gameday looks like Cain's velocity is way down. FB setting 89-91 a lot, plus throwing a lot of sliders, curves, and change ups - I wonder if he is healthy.

Make that 7-0 after 3 as St.Louis batters Cain once again.

GO CARDS!

wow - dropping a 7 spot on Cain in the 3rd - baseballs a funny game Cain gets $127 million dollar deal and then he has a rough year like this. This plus a lot of other deals ( Pujols, Hamilition, etc.) really has to have owners even more gun shy to give big money for a lot of years.

Here is the FOX coverage/blackout map for tonight.

The Cards have not lost both ends of a double-header since 1996. Five sweeps and 16 splits since then. Details here.

great 8 pitch inning by shelby in the 6th!!!  at 88 pitches he can have a normal inning in the 7th, then turn it over to the pen.

Brian thanks for the map - unfortunately it tells me what I already knew - I do not see the cards today.

Re: 2013 MLB games 54 and 55 thread: Giants at Cards (DH): Sat

Just checked in on the game and oh what a pleasant surprise seeing our Cards drill Cain yet once again. Cain is either physically ailing or not the elite pitcher I had thought him to be. Your true gems don't get lambasted twice in a row by the same opponent.... they get their revenge in that second encounter. He sure does have an odd line thru 5...8 UK's with NO walks, while yielding 7 earned runs. You don't see that very often. Now let's hold this lead thru 7 and then get Shelby the heck out of this game. Also nice to see Yadi's understudy, Tony C., get off the schneid with a ringing 2-run single. This game is going so well that I've nearly forgot Thursday night's MathenyGate game.

Gameday pitch tracker gave me the impression he throw a lot more curve balls and changes up today then in previous starts- wonder if Cruz calling the game made a difference.

For those that saw the game did Miller shake him off any or did Miller just trust Cruz to call the game.
