Last year Lance the 18 game winning all-star went 9-3 at home, 9-4 on the road. This year he is 4-0 at Busch. Looking good for tonight.

I doubt that Harvey is behind his team's push....in being pushy and without class in their quest to improve one of it's players STATS. What kind of a message does this send to it's young impressionable players? They look at their team for guidance and how to look .....now wait....this is a big word that Met officials obviously are not familiar with...."PROFESSIONAL". Yeah, I wouldn't hold this against Harvey, Ducky, as he's probably doing what 98% of us are doing....rolling our eyes around in their sockets. I can't' see MLB agreeing to reverse the original ruling. If they didn't reverse that call that jipped that one pitcher out of a no-hitter in Detroit a year or two ago, due to their 1st base umps boneheaded call, then they certainly are not going to allow this miniscule event to be altered. Besides, if they really want to go back and start reviewing every Harvey play, I'm sure you could find an instance or two where Harvey was not charged an earned run...but should have.

Well shoot, apparently Goold just mentioned that Garcia to the DL with shoulder strain and Boggs called up. Does this mean Kelly to the rotation? Wacha? Rosie?

40% of the rotation didn't make it to the end of May. Unlike other teams, the problem presented is which guys are going to get the jobs. Gast auditions. Rosey, Kelly, Martinez and Maness are hopeful. Carp looms. Wacha waits. The plot thickens.

Is it even worth calling the action on a Saturday night? There's probably more salespeople destined to knock on my door this evening than we have posters hanging around this thread at the moment.

I knew the Reds and Pirates were winning and doing well. I did not realize until this afternoon that they have the 2nd and 3rd best winning % in the national league. Top three winningest team in the national league all in  the central. So much for the theory the central win totals would be down because the Astros were not around for easy Ws.

Yep, the cubs and Brewers more than picked up the slack, Jim. It is a bit unusual in the NL this year in that most teams are either really good or really really bad. Not nearly as many mediocre teams as we usually see.

Good point about a lot of bad teams: Brewers, Cubs, Mets, Miami, Padres, & Dodgers up until this point.

I see this as a big start for Lynn, coming off that 124 pitch outing coupled with Westbrook and Garcia injuries. Expect some regression from the rotation ( cannot expect 2.25 starter era)  but need to avoid a big drop.

Yeah, that 2.25 starter era would be an impossible task to maintain....even if all starters were healthy and happy. It's amazing it lasted as long as it did. This team is so deep in starting pitching though. So much so that I was thinking the other day, "what if all 5 starters who opened the season went down with significant injuries by June 1st"? That would destroy a team.....except maybe not these 2013 Cardinals. Obviously they wouldn't flouish, but I bet that new group of 5 could hold their own.

1.Wacha
2.Rosenthal
3.Kelly
4.Maness
5.(Take your pick from about 5 qualified candidates)

* Then you have the Carpenter factor lurking on the near horizon.

MCarp picks up an rbi the easy way....via the free pass and it's 2-0 Cards here in the bottom of the second....now Jay grounds out with the bases juiced to retire the side....heading to the 3rd.

Sorry that should have said Mr steady. This Estrada kid loves to walk us with the bases juiced I believe he walked in 2 runs with the sacks full last time we faced him

Wouldn't that be something if teams started doing the CIA-KGB espionage thing. Take this Estrada. What if he was getting paid a handsome sum by the Cards to "throw"(no pun intended) games when facing the Cards? It would give the word "agent" in baseball a whole new meaning. We fans would go nuts trying to figure out which players were "agents"...which players were "double agents".....or which players just flat out sucked.

Oh oh! I think Jim was correct about Lynn as he's definitely not himself tonight. Segura just hit a gapper to left-center(triple) that plated 2 to knot things up and now Braun just fights off a fastball and deposits it into right for a hit to put Milwaukee up 3-2.

Yea pugs I think Estrada would just fall in the "sucks" category. Young segura is quite a good player however

He is good....wondering why Jerry Dipoto's job is in jeopardy when the moves he's been taking are at the behest of Arte.

Ha ha! Yeah, Scadder might have something there as he seems to be settling in here. You have to believe we're going to get to him soon though. I just got back from the store as the wifey sent me down to get 50 Powerball tickets......there's a better chance of a real elephant to come trouncing across my lawn to night than of cashing in the big one via Powerball.
