Against Garland Yadi is 7/9, Freese is 3/5, and Beltran is 12/39 with 9 BB and 2 HR. He is 1-5 with a 5.79 ERA against the Cardinals in his (long) career. I like the matchup today.

CarGo and Tulo back to back caught looking as the leadoff single and SB are wasted.

For those not watching the telecast, Mo was in the booth chatting it up for a couple innings. Interesting hearing his take on stuff. Real excited about Chris Carpenter.

Miller - again - looks great. Need to cash in and stretch this lead out and build some cushion. Just a bloop and blast away from a tie game.

Mo- was an interesting listen.

miller gives up a leadoff single then sets down the next 21 in a row including 11 k's

after 7 it's 3-0 good guys

Man, Shelby is making me salivate and I don't have any food here to use it on.

How long do you go with him?  96 pitches through 7.  I think I give him the 8th unless the tie run gets on deck.

And what do you do with Carp if he really does come back?  Do you move a 5-1 starter with a 2.72 ERA (Lynn) to the pen?  Or one with a 1.62 ERA in the rotation (Westbrook)?  Does Carp move to the pen?  But if you send him there does that mean Mujica of 9 consecutive saves goes to setup?

Gotta say it's the sort of problem I'd love to have.

Carp's the closer.  hands down, no questions.  Maybe you give him a few outings but come on... 9th inning int he playoffs, carp or mujica -- no offense, i love mujica, but you know who anyone with a pulse wants out there.

And you know he'd love the role...

Quick inning for Miller.  OK, run him out there in the 9th.

Re Carp, I wonder if with his condition he's better throwing a lot every 5 days or a little two days in a row.

He would be a great closer, and if he takes that role and thrives I'd love to bring him back next year if a reasonable deal could be struck.
